Default What Do (Should) The Various DC Scientists Specialize In?

Inspired by a similar thread on the Marvel boards. If you were to pick a few fields for DC's scientists to specialize what would you pick? You cannot give them more than four.

    Mr Terrific: Computers and robotics

    Ted Kord: Engineering and chemistry

Ray Palmer and Ryan Choi: Physics

    Curious: why chemistry?

I could see those fields more for Lex Luthor.
THE SIGNAL (Duke Thomas) is DC's secret shonen protagonist so I made him a fandom wiki

also, check out "The Signal Tape" a Duke Thomas fan project.

    currently following:
    • DC: Red Hood: The Hill
    • Marvel: TBD
    • Manga (Shonen/Seinen): One Piece, My Hero, Dandadan, Jujutsu Kaisen, Kaiju No. 8, Reincarnation of The Veteran Soldier, Oblivion Rouge, ORDEAL, The Breaker: Eternal Force

Not like there can be only per skillset. And Engineering definitely suits Ted.

That's five. I gave the limit at four.

It was one of the fields listed on his wikipedia page. He also once used an adhesive similar to Spider-Man's webbing once.

Lex would be robotic engineering, all the tech that makes Metropolis The City of Tomorrow, and later capture and kill Superman while they're at it, including, in some continuities, Metallo.

I meant the combination of specialty seems more like Lex, I see Ted as primary engineering. although with Lex and Ted they often dabble in everything, with specialties I think that's how they shake out.

Well, most scientists in comics are all-rounders good at almost everything (moreso older characters). My point of interest in thread is in the paring that down and seeing which types of science fans find most essential to characters.

How good is Barry at Forensic science? Is he considered talented in the DC universe or just average?

No idea (we rarely saw him doing his actual job in the old stories I most read), but the guy invented a cosmic treadmill, and that's gotta count for something in some field or another.

Don't know, but I wish they would play it up more. both on TV and the comics.
Make it a kind of compulsive observational OCD to naturally be hyper aware, and notice every detail. Then even further enhanced by his speed.

Didn't the older comics used to drop allot of observational science "facts" coined as "Flash-Facts"

Also as per the TV series, wish it would translate to the comics:

Francisco "Cisco" Ramon / Vibe - Mechanical Engineering all around techy gadget guy.

I like the laid back silver age Barry. Relaxed. Very capable, but not at all ambitious. I like the following scenario
Co-worker looks at Allen’s work. He’s a genius and could write his own check with a private company, why the hell is he working for peanuts?

Because he grew up reading comic books and wanted to catch the bad guys.
