Loved this issue! Peeling away a few more small layers yet still given us even more questions to ponder on. What did annihilation say to genesis? Why did Isca switch even though they were winning? Why does annihilation have so much interest in the mutants of earth ? Apocalypse had an army of mutants , why weren’t new mutants born in the same numbers until almost 2000/ 3000 years later ?? Looking forward to next week !

I’ve said this before that people don’t understand how iscas powers work based on the description. She doesn’t choose her sides, she must always win, it’s compulsive which means her powers basically force her to change sides on a whim. Which is an amazing bad power lol and leads to all sorts of drama because she literally can’t choose her side. She MUST win.

That means storm is related to apocalypse you said she was a descendant of death. Her being deaths half sister is a bit of a different twist

It was also great seeing so many great mutants of color starting it all.

so Isca the unbeaten is probably gonna change sides again?

Another great issue. Hickman really is great at world building and writing history. Apocalypse has never been more interesting.

I'm not confident the X-Men would welcome Isca into their ranks just like that. Her duel with Captain Britain is definitely the most interesting because of her "power" tho.

That's par for the course for the "X-men" these days, they'll let anyone in with no supervision to speak of. They might even give her a team to lead.

    So, let's see:

    * Apocalypse is hardened by his time as a slave under Rama-Tut and Ozymandias and he leaves Egypt declaring that only he will be there at the civilization's end. So he's hardened in his belief he is strong enough to change the world.
    * Apocalypse builds a Sphinx vessel from the Celestial technology left behind by Rama-Tut and makes a contract with the Celestials to allow him to shape the Earth, solidifying his belief that he will be the one to change the world.
    * Apocalypse has a family and leads Okkara and is told by Genesis to judge the world, making him believe that he must change the world to be as strong as he believes his family was.
    * Apocalypse forms Clan Akkaba and uses them to either directly or indirectly judge the world and cull those whom he judges too weak to help him defeat Annihilation.
    * Apocalypse meets Garbha-Hsien and takes Ship to use the Celestial technology within it to become even stronger than he already has become.
    * Apocalypse fights Traveler (Cable) and gains the technovirus from him and uses it to properly interface with Ship and become much stronger.
    * Apocalypse is awoken from his slumber by Nathaniel Essex, turns him into Mr. Sinister and begins a plot to forge an army of strong by culling the world.
    * Apocalypse is awoken from his slumber by baby Nathan Summers and begins his various schemes to gain Celestial power to become even stronger than before.
    * Apocalypse is changed by his time in the Age of X-Man and finally feels love for Evan Sabahnur (named Genesis in this reality...) and goes to Krakoa to find his family.

It actually all works very well: Apocalypse is set on the path of becoming a villain by being told that he will have to change the world, but on Okkara he has a family but is separated from them for not being strong enough, forcing him on the path of trying to become even stronger than before until Big Nate reminds him of who he once was.

    Since it's worth the mention...

Of course Apocalypse was the weak one. His adoptive father says so in the limited series The Rise Of Apocalypse.

This is following up on things that were always there on the page.

Also not a fan of Isca just being related to Apocalypse.

It just makes Arrako so much smaller when the Champions are just all Apocalypse's relatives. We're already at half.

She's not. She's related to Genesis. But I like that Apocalypse now has a family tree equipped with step sisters and son-in-law's lol familial drama is the best kind of drama. Before this Isca was just the mutant who "can't lose" now we know she was the blood sister of the Leader of the mutant army. Genesis own sister betrayed them on the eve of their "victory". Delicious lol

I don't think it makes Arrako seem small. Only 2 of the swordbearers are related to him by blood.

    Something I want to know:

    Is Apocalypse brown/black?
