it looks vaguely interesting in a skippable way, but nothing really stands out. I guess there might be something to new creative teams, but hard to say at this point.

Unless we're getting another series with Jessica Cruz as a regular character, I could care less about the comics.

While I may pick up the Immortal Wonder Woman and Nightwing books on sale date, the rest i will probably pick up in the $ bin at the local used book store.

I'm tired of circular storytelling, I know some of y'all are tired of circular storytelling, I bet even Batman is tired of circular storytelling; so yeah, break that wheel Daenerys! I'm most excited for some of the talent being showcased. I'm a huge fan of Excellence and they got both Brandon Thomas and Khary Randolph on the line-up! I am praying for a Brandon Thomas on Duke Thomas title someday.
Is that why Wally's gone crazy and started killing people? Is he our Dany ?

Snyder is stepping back after Death Metal. He may do a Nightwing BL book but there’s been zero indication he plans on doing another ongoing. He wants to focus on his creator work and it wouldn’t surprise me if his next superhero book is at Marvel.

Morrison is gone after TGL. He only came back because of Didio, and with Didio gone I’m not sure if he’ll come back again. He’s already pretty much done all he can at both of the Big 2, I see him sticking to live action stuff, maybe writing a book just to tweak Moore’s nose

Johns made the switch completely to TV/movie stuff, don’t expect anything beyond the occasional BL book from him.

Rucka is back to his creator owned work, dunno if he’ll come back again.

Tynion is talking about making the switch from Big 2 stuff to creator owned stuff aside from Batman. He may be planning to bounce once he’s done with Bats.

All those guys gone... who is really positioned to take over as DC’s next big superstar?
Williamson is perhaps the obvious choice, as he’s a Snyder pupil same as Tynion, and he’s coming off his Flash run and still onboard for stuff like Batman/Superman. He’ll probably stick around.

Ram V is definitely the closest DC has to a Ewing in my eyes. Dude is fantastic and I can see DC putting him on the bigger books.

Taylor does nothing for me but he sells well. If I wasn’t certain Bendis will get JL next I’d have said he was the obvious next choice. He works for both companies though, and neither likes to give their big books to someone not locked down with an exclusive.

Bendis is someone whose Superman stuff I’ve enjoyed, but he’s clearly not the sales force he once was, and he’s hasn’t been for a long time. I think he’ll get JL, but I also think he’s lost a lot of leeway with Didio and Harras leaving. I don’t know how long his time at DC will be.

My point with all this is while I don’t think many of the creative stories will have big impacts on the mainline in the future, I absolutely think many of the creatives themselves involved in Future State could become major players in DC’s future. The old guard that pretty much ran DC from the 90s to now are finally either moving on or being pushed out. The 2020s stand to be another shift for DC, like the 10s were for Marvel. Frankly I think that’s a good thing, I hope we’ll get some good stories out of this event and I hope those who do well are rewarded with mainline books.
I know Waid's an old timer and not "fresh blood" but I'm waiting for them to announce that he's back.

I go with what make sense and not contrived. The fact they uprooted Damian's character development in order for him to be out of the way of Batman is contrived, and a big one for me. It should be him with Jon in the Justice League at least. It's not good enough to me replacing one minority with another, especially since the kid has been designated demon in the family.

Now assuming I accept everything that happened to Damian, people have been debating the logic of Luke becoming Batman but I reserve judgment until the story's out.

The idea that there's an Amazon tribe in Amazon rainforest is brilliant so I'm all for Yara

Focusing on Andy Curry and the next gen makes sense

However 5G is very clearly designed to skip over Titans generation, so even if Didio promoted it to be an appreciation of Legacy, he's still pretty clearly biased. So my judgement will be reserved once I find out for sure how they get rid of the middle generations to make way to the new characters, but it's not looking good with the Titans and Flash solicit.

Freaking Wally... at least the demon is out and this is the last time he'll be depicted like this. I hope.

So all in all, some of it make sense to me, some of it don't, and I want all of them to make sense.

I like alternate futures and I love legacy heroes, so I'm onboard.

I'm sure I'll be pissed with the "how" we get to that point though, cause that's Didio's last footprint.

    But overall, I'm onboard.
ConnEr Kent flies. ConnOr Hawke has a bow. Batman's kid is named DamiAn.

Waid is writing a Superman story in one of the Death Metal tie-ins, and there’s been rumors he’s been offered GL after Morrison. I also expect him to do a Superman story as well, although whether in the mainline or as a BL book is anyone’s guess. Waid and Priest are two old guard guys that I would still love to see do DC work since I don’t think they’ve said all they wanted to say (unlike Johns and Morrison who I feel have pretty much exhausted every character of interest, and Snyder who clearly can’t bring himself to care about anything not tied to Batman or Gotham). I expect Jurgens and Tomasi to stick around too, although hopefully more towards the peripheral. It’s telling that aside from Williamson and Bendis, and those two only have one book each, none of the usual names are doing 5G (unless you count Jurgens prologue and epilogue issues which I don’t). This definitely feels like DC testing out a bunch of new people before offering the “winners” jobs.

It just occurred to me that this is why Lee wants to tackle each part of the DCU separately rather than do a big relaunch all at once for everything. The people who sell and are received well on FS could end up on mainline books, but DC will need some time after FS to set that up. So they’re taking their time piecemeal. Superman will get revamped first because I’d wager they’ve already picked people to replace Bendis, Waid and either Yang/Venditti imo, and then they’ll slowly relaunch other books as well like Harley Quinn, Supergirl, etc.

The only thing I MAY check in on, is to see where Jason Todd's story goes. Otherwise, I'll pretend that the comic line doesn't exist for 2 months. As nothing interests, and some stuff is just more of a reminder of DiDio's directives that tended to be quite awful.

I like pulp fiction superman. So, future state for superman corner looks great. Jon looks great as well. So, i am optimistic and looking forward to it.

But with Dick, Tim and Jason apparently all still alive and active it still doesn't make much sense that Luke is the one who takes up the mantle imo.

Dick got Bludhaven, Jason's an Outlaw, and all of them have a team to lead. They're not always in Gotham. Luke's always in Gotham and has no other responsibility, so picking him first makes more sense.

That said, again, I'm waiting for the story first, but if Luke took the mantle before he got to Gotham because he has access to it through his father, and The Magistrate sounds like they seize the Manor, cave, and Enterprise so Dick can't get to his usual cache, then I'm fine with it.

At least based on the solicitations they are all in Gotham and are not leading any teams. Ok Jason is working for the Magistrate, but Dick and Tim are still working as Nightwing and Robin.

Tim has no team, and he gets called Robin Eternal. Which sounds like mockery every time I hear it.
I don't get it, I mean Batwing is fine name, why did he has to be Batman when Tim stays as Robin?
