Finally but will people still care about it after all this time. Plus people have been telling variations of this story now for awhile for example Future Man.

They should keep the part where they use video games to seek out potential recruits for Starfighters. (but not in a shady, exploitive, turning kids to the military industrial complex kinda way -- keep it light and fun!
) It can be a self-aware scifi movie the way "Scream" was with the horror genre and have sly commentary about how scifi and video game fandoms have evolved since the original.
