There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!
I vote Kai the Spy!
Kai "the spy", without a doubt. That Wrightson Frankenstein cover is breathtaking.

So illustrated prose works count?

Hard to chose. Usually, I'm able to narrow my choices down to a few or even to a single cover, however this time besides the obvious Adams cover that got into the mix and Wrightson's masterpiece for the Frankenstein novel (the emphasis being on a novel) there isn't much to distinguish one great cover from another.
I'm going with Iron Maiden's entry for its simple, yet very effective design I can't remember seeing before.

Love the Frankenstein cover, ( I own signed copy of that book and it's one of the joys of my collection) but it's not a comic, it's an illustrated prose novel, so no vote from me.
So many choices, I would vote for so many if I could, but part of my joy in this is discovery, and I hadn't seen the HOM cover posted by...

Its amazing just how good that pencilwork is, and how detailed. No computer in use there!

And sorry I didn't get here earlier in the week --much as I love that Frankenstein cover, as others have noted it's the cover to an edition of Mary Shelley's novel. Nothing to do with comics other than an artist who's best known for his comic book work did some (breathtaking) illustrations for the book.
Wrightson did do a Frankenstein graphic novel later on--or at least one was put together later on from his work--but it has an entirely different cover. The graphic novel is titled "Frankenstein Alive, Alive", 2018 publication IIRC.
