Incidentally, because I am a book nerd, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein is well worth reading. Its obviously a classic story, but her use of language and all of the well-earned pathos that she develops in the creature is outstanding. And its got an easily top ten ending in all of literature. Yes, all of it!

Stony 'cuz frog hate is very close to frog love. OK, it's far from my best, but I'm looking to empty beer cans watching election results. Does no one care about the frogs?

I'm thinking the Frankenstein work has pretty much been accepted here and has somehow bent or broken all of the acceptability rules.

I read that book for the first time only a few years ago, despite being a fan of the Monster since I was a kid. Great, great read.

It's been a while since I read it but yes, quite an achievement for a young lady. I love the opening scene in Bride of Frankenstein where director James Whale has Mary, her husband Percy Bysshe Shelley and Lord Byron discussing her book as a storm is brewing outside

    nx01a

when you think about it the design of the xenomorphs in Alien is a creature from your worst nightmare. a perfect subject for Wrightson.

This week was really tough because since the subject matter is Bernie Wrightson, all the covers are worthy of a vote.

    Time to tally the votes:

1 vote each: Foxley, Greg Hatcher, Javasaurus, MRP, Paul Bullion, Riv86672, Rob Allen, WestPhillyPunisher, worstblogever, Zelena
2 votes each: Iron Maiden, Kirby101, nx01a, Scott Taylor, Shalla Bal

and, in a tie with three votes: Kai "the spy" and Stony!

Will someone who hasn't voted swing by and break the deadlock? Thanks!

I didn't vote, so I'll do so now. I'll go with Stony's cover, because (among other things about it) I really like that Sam Gross legless frog.

Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry!
I was so immersed with following the election results, that I completely forgot to vote! (ironic, right?)

    And I won?? wow!
Thanks so much for the votes!

It's late night here, so I might be off to bed
Sit back, have a breather, and I'll have a new contest up for you later

    Congrats, Stony.

And thanks to Javasaurus for the vote (I should have guessed the dinosaur cover would appeal to you. )
