Default Greatest Rescue Feats By Superman and Company

I’ve been trying to compile a list of Superman rescuing people. Looking for saves that make a grand spectacle and awe. Going through my own list of solo comics, movies, shows and company wide events is a lot for me. Help me by posting your favorite feats and scenes. The more incredible, the better.

    I’ll start off.

Superman literally pushing/pulling a train to its destination. There is something awesome about that.

Well, there's technically, visually, recently, emotionally, as an iconic moment...

Here's one that came to mind

Superman Returns. The only really amazing scene in that film. Superman saved the heck out of that plane.

Superman has saved planes before, but it's never been a big deal. A couple of comic book panels, one scene in a montage in Superman The Movie. No big deal, no difficulty. But here, making it harder with a smidge more physics so grabbing a wing makes it tear off - he earned that save. It was hell of a thing to watch.

The rescue scene in Superman Returns, the fight scenes in Man of Steel. We get such amazing moments in such divisive movies. If only we could get all that in genuinely good all the way through movies.

I'm really hoping we can find something on the level of Flash and Quicksilver. Those guys have style in their big rescue scenes.

The one where Clark saves his 10-11 year old child from years of torture and anguish from his evil doppelganger...

    Wait, that didn't happen.

That scene is almost one to one from fleischer cartoons.

Which episode? I've seen all but one or two and remember nothing that looked like that.

Yep, one of the two episodes that are missing on the cheapo dvd that I found like a decade ago.

Not really shot for shot in the way I imagined it. Yes the bit where Superman actually catches the nose of the plane and successfully stops it are the same, but the interesting part that made the scene in Returns so great is the bit that happened before that - the struggle to catch it or get a hold of it, where grabbing the wing made the wing tear off and all that. Superman really had trouble and had to work fast and basically earn that save in Returns. While the ending of that scene and the Fleischer short are basically shot for shot, it's the differences before that ending that really makes the scene in Superman Returns so glorious. It straddled the line where we want to see our hero struggle and earn that saving the day moment, but we don't want him to look weak or job either. It made it believable that he'd struggle to save that plane while maintaining his strength and competency, something that even a lot of Superman writers have struggled with. Not talking bad about the Fleischer cartoons either because they're truly classic and amazing, just that the rescue in Returns felt earned and was an incredible spectacle to witness.

Sadly the rest of the movie couldn't live up to that one scene.

It's not surprising, that it's not included. I also liked smallville jumping scene. It's just superman running, jumping.. Etc around is always fun for me. It's just something i like to do myself. The endorphins are great. If i had superman like powers this would be what i would be doing.
