Totally forgot about that scene, but agreed it really catches who Superman is. It's like the scene in Man of Steel where he flies for the first time - it's just fun to watch Superman really enjoy being Superman, having fun with his powers. There was none of that in Batman v Superman, which helped hurt it among other things. Even going back to Clark running home from school and racing that train in Superman the Movie, you need to show him having some fun. The character works best when he's just a good, fun, happy guy at heart.

Not necessarily his greatest rescue, but speaking about Superman the Movie I always loved the scene where he first saves Lois in that helicopter. Nice meet cute.

Also, if anyone has any recommendations of Superman saving lives or engaging on a battlefield during a war, please post here or PM.

It's not my favorite save, but it's one of the most iconic and memorable.

That small chuckle where Clark acknowledges Lois's (admittedly hysteric) quip is perfection.

^ Superman Returns plane rescue 2006.

    Superman TAS plane rescue 1996.

Superman plane rescue The Man of Steel 1986.

I haven't kept up with Rebirth for the most part. Did 2016 continue the trend with a plane rescue?

Continuing the pattern or Superman rescuing aircrafts. @Robanker posted the original helicopter rescue (Superman The Movie 1978) above.

A few others inspired by it.

    Birthright - 2003

    Secret Origin - 2009

    Action Comics #978 - 2017

    Superman: Doomsday - 2007

Action comics Vol2 #14 has Superman hearing cries for help from Astronauts on Mars while he's in Metropolis and he flies off to rescue them. In my opinon its the best use of Super-hearing in recent memory. It was a great save.

at this point, they should call it superman's empathic connection. If we want to cling to "superman's powers are realistic and science fiction"(which is total nonesense.superman is fantasy). That kinda would be called out on.Superman hears living things in trouble everywhere.Wether it's dolphin stuck in plastic net or harmless Minotaur getting stuck in maze by those pesky ******* greek gods in mount olympus. If you call out to him.He would be there in light speed proclaiming.
