I haven't read it yet, but I'm under the impression that Dick joined Spyral, was assigned to Bertinelli (who was already a member), some stuff happened training-wise, and now in Grayson #1 we see them on one of their first (but maybe not very first) mission.

Betrinelli recruited him, knowing he had no place to go and he had useful skills.

As far as the New 52 goes, it's all in the page. She recruited him for Spyral and acts as his partner and sort of mentor. They've only just met.

But they did keep a flirtatious relationship in the pre-Flashpoint days, especially during Dick's time as Batman. I'm sure they teamed-up here and there before that, too.

But in the old continuity, Dick and Helena knew each other very well, had a brief romantic history, and a four(?) issue "Nightwing And Huntress" miniseries.
