Default Did 3 Jokers add anything to the mythos?

I honestly believe it did in a small way but not much. I think that it leaves open the possibilty of the Joker being a different guy each time he spears but that is about it. I mean given how Joker War ended I can the Criminal making a return or something like that. Other than that I don't think it really added anything.

It didn't, in the sense that future Batman comics could completely ignore this story until the end of time and absolutely nothing would change.

However (and I hate to give Johns credit for something) I actually really liked everything about the Joe Chill story and Bruce's reconciliation with him. It's the most poignant and meaningful thing they've ever done with the character or concept of Joe Chill and honestly I think it might deserve to be canon.

The bigger question is did this thread add anything the other three jokers threads missed?

    I think it does.

    Just for clarification:

    Criminal
    Clown
    Comedian

    Who hurt Barbara?
    Who hurt Jason?
Which Joker is still alive? (Not that this means much in comics).

    Thanks.

Bruce said he knew the first week who he was... a "minor" detail, however, its something....

    spoilers:
    From my understanding:
    - the one who hurt Barbara was the Comedian
    - it is kind of unclear if the one who killed Jason was the Comedian or the Clown
    - the one who is still alive is the Comedian
    end of spoilers

It’s easier for disgruntled fans to just flat out say: no.

    The real answer is “maybe.”

Because 2/5/10/20/40 years from now there’ll be a writer who liked the story and wants to involve some of the aspects into whatever they have. There will be a writer somewhere down the line that wants to explore the family, despite people either wanting it to be untouched or forgetting about.

I agreed with a review of this issue that this series "delivers on the promise of the title and little else"

I did enjoy the parts with Batman and Joe Chill

wow. this is as good as The Killing Joke:
    • Batman may or may not have killed the Joker at the end of the story; the author left it intentionally vague.
    • Barbara remained crippled for 20 years; the author didn't think a superhero could be crippled.

Both stories have all the hallmarks of great reading: no one knows what the hell's going on.

    Warning: Spoiler ahead

Things changed in a small yet significant way. Joe Chill is dead. Jason is in love with Barbara (gross by the way, especially given Barbara's history with Dick). Gordon has all but accepted that he knows who Batgirl is.
But in the end all that matters is that we were entertained. The interaction between Jason and Joker as well as Barbara and Joker were amazing given their history. I could feel the emotions coming off the pages. The best Batman comics I have read since Hush.

To current continuity? Who knows? DC continuity is pretty fluid these days. What "counts" today might not tomorrow or after the next timeline shakeup.

To the larger mythos? The idea that Batman knows Joker's identity and that it canonically isn't important. Whether or not anyone follows up on the Barbara/Jason situation is up in the air, but seeds for something were planted.

The way canon is, who can say?

I did like the ending, though
