Like action, adventure, rogues, and outlaws? Like anti-heroes, femme fatales, mysteries and thrillers?
I wrote a book with them. Outlaw’s Shadow: A Sherwood Noir. Robin Hood’s evil counterpart, Guy of Gisbourne, is the main character. Feel free to give it a look: https://read.amazon.com/kp/embed?asi...E2PKBNJFH76GQP

Can't believe no one has mentioned Judy Garland yet.

But some favorites definitely include Cary Grant, Barbara Stanwyck, Bette Davis, James Stewart, John Wayne, Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire (with and without Ginger Rogers), Katharine Hepburn, Audrey Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart, Joan Crawford, and many others.

Many of my favorites have already been listed. I can't pick one, because some of them were especially good at specific things. For example, for my money, Tyrone Power was the greatest swashbuckler to ever grace the silver screen. And they're simply was no villain greater than Basil Rathbone.
Greta Garbo, Marlon Brando, Gene Kelly ,Gregory Peck, Frank Sinatra, Vivien Leigh, Clark Gable, James Cagney, Marilyn Monroe
Jerry Lewis, Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, Vincent Price.
