Here is the third option I was considering, almost surprised no one else posted it.

There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

Congratulations to Conn Seanery for a cover whose Divine Champions were Vertigo inducing.
And now, the peak of the week where the captain tells us all what he has learned. The basic superhero idea is someone with more ability helping those who need that help. Without getting into the beliefs of a higher power, I'm going to mention that that theme of a heavenly helper (sometimes not what they seem) is far more common than I would have thought. Often, it's just the imagery of someone with wings or Simon Templar having a halo appear above his head but the idea is one thsat makes for stories whether or not we actually believe. And if those stories inspire us to do good deeds, then perhaps they meet the purpose of serving a higher power.
Great job Con!
