Default DC Next Dawn - November Solicits!

We present to you DC Next Dawn, a collection of all new fan-made issues on “sale” this month, NOVEMBER 2020!

What is “DC Next Dawn” and how does it work?

Next Dawn, previously known as “New Dawn,” is a fan fiction universe and solicitation game that has been in existence on the CBR boards for approximately ten years! It has gone through several iterations and has survived forum reboots! The way it works is that “plotters” write short solicitations for monthly comic books! Then participants “buy” the books they want to read! The books with the most buys get rewards. Sounds fun, right? So let’s do this! Which of this month's solicits interest and excite you? Let us know by posting which books you'd pick up in the virtual Next Dawn Store (this solicitation thread). You can pull as many as you'd like, but also consider your "virtual budget" when making your selections, as sales are used to reward our titles and plotters. Registers are open all month and sales are tallied at the end of the month.

Absolutely anyone can make purchases right here in this thread - so please do!. It’s free and is basically just saying “I’d read this” or “I like this!” So let us know!

If you want more information on Next Dawn or are interested in plotting yourself, please visit us at the Next Dawn Bullpen Thread.

    Behold! Our monthly archive!
This is the repository of our prior work; a compilation of all the monthly solicitation posts since the forum was reset in 2014.

    ACTION COMICS #9
    Plotter: CaptCleghorn
    Writer: Elliot S! Maggin
    Artist: José Luis García-López
“The Superman Challenge part 1: Whatever Happened to the Man of Steel?”
It starts out as a typical day for Superman. He prevents a car sized asteroid from smashing many of Earth’s communication satellites. He saves an island’s inhabitants in the Pacific by clogging up an erupting volcano. And to end his morning, he finds a missing idol to stop a war between two small African nations.
It’s a rare day when he can revert to his identity as reporter Clark Kent and have lunch with his paramour Lois Lane. But no one has heard of Superman in Metropolis. Clark and Lois are having lunch together, but this Clark is a farmboy from Metropolis, down to his calloused hands from a life of farming work. Now this world has superheroes and the presence of a new one, even one as pretentious as one called “Superman” is no big deal. Read Clark Kent’s interview of Superman.
And the “oh, yeah, different Earth” explanation scenario is disproven halfway through the story. Witness as the only character interested in Kal-El’s true story is the Hub City conspiracy theorist, the Question. Did we mention Lois Lane beat out the Question’s secret identity Vic Sage for the Pulitzer a few years ago? Rao bless shared universes.

    Plotter: CaptCleghorn
    Writer/Artist: Gene Luen Yang
Vigilante, starring Stuff, the Chinatown Kid in:
    “Soldiers Eight and Nine, conclusion”
Back in 1946, Stuff and the costumed Wing How, partner of the Crimson Avenger, have found the criminal despot, the Hand. But even though the Seven Soldiers are off on other missions, our new duo are left to stop this dangerous evildoer by themselves. Can Stuff and his new partner Wing do it? You will have to read this to find out. (story continues in Detective #9)

    “GET WET”
The ocean covers more than 70% of our planet’s surface. Beneath the water, there are different worlds. Strange worlds. Often beautiful. Yet often dark. Often cold. Once, not so long ago, the myriad aquatic nations were held together by the Throne of Atlantis. Today, the oceans are ruled only by uncertainty, changing with the tides. Yet there is a prophecy, once spoken of by the legendary wizard Arion of Atlantis, that the Underwater could one day be reunified... by a totally wet ass mother$&@#er!
Fresh from saving the galaxy during the events of STARRO WARS, Arthur “Aquaman” Curry returns to his father’s Lighthouse in Amnesty Bay for a righteously rare opportunity to rest and recuperate - I bet you can guess how that’s going to work out, right?
When Arthur’s father screams “WE GOT CRABS!”, he rushes out to see scores of humanish crustaceans emerging from the Atlantic! They are representatives of the Brine, a seafloor people, and they didn’t come to fight... but to worship? How exactly did Aquaman become their so-called “soft-shell messiah”?
And although the Brine don’t want to fight, someone else does - a powerful hydrokinetic sorceress that wields water itself as a weapon and hails from the rebel Kingdom of Xebel. Will any survive... the watery wrath of Mera?!?

    THE FLASH #16
    Plot by EXCITER
    Written by ROBERT KIRKMAN
    Art by FRANK CHO
“IT’S KINDA LIKE ENCINO MAN WITH SWORDS”
The STARRO WARS have ended, thanks in large part to the incredible speed of the fastest man alive... but now, if he can, Barry Allen wants nothing more than to slow down for a moment and reconnect with the loved ones he nearly lost.
One problem: there’s a cursed barbarian from Earth’s prehistory hanging in his apartment! Is Barry fast enough to help Claw the Unconquered adapt to the modern world? Big Belly Burger, HBO Max, and political correctness might be too much for a guy used to wearing a loin cloth and carrying a five-foot broadsword. But crap! Iris’ BFF Stacy Connell becomes immediately smitten with the hunk-out-of-time and demands a double date... and Barry and Iris can’t explain the situation without revealing his secret identity! Hijinks ensue!
Flash Fact: 39% of people meet their significant other through mutual friends.
A bigger problem is that the modern clone of Claw, who hates to be called Clow but will heretofore be called that anyway, has gone rogue and is on the loose. The beneficiary of both training and DNA from Vandal Savage, he’s almost certain to stick that demonic fist somewhere it doesn’t belong...
Speaking of Vandal Savage, the immortal Illuminatus seethes in his secret hideout. A filthy animal named Grodd robbed him of the killing blow on Starro. This insult will not go unanswered. He’s elected to send a top asset, Barbara Minerva, to Africa in order to end the primate menace once and for all. It’s Grodd vs. Cheetah... to the death!

    GREEN LANTERN #16
    Plot by EXCITER
    Written by MARK MILLAR
    Art by JOE MADUREIRA
    “POWERLESS”
    Ring Battery... 0%.
The STARRO WARS have ended, but the cost of victory was high - especially for the Green Lantern Corps. Not only did they suffer high casualties, but their planetary base of operations, Oa, was devastated. Worse still, their Central Battery was destroyed... leaving the entire Corps with no way to recharge their rings. The remaining Guardians of the Universe estimate that building a new Battery, if even possible, will take years. But just because their rings don’t have power doesn’t mean the Corps is powerless...
Laser guns. Traditional spacecraft. Guts and grit. The Green Lanterns are going to continue their mission without rings. Is this suicide? John Stewart and Hal Jordan are about to find out as they board the G.L.C.S. Interceptor for their next assignment: execute a warrant for the arrest of Brawlark, a Khund criminal victimizing innocent refugees in Starro’s wake. But Brawlark is not only armed and extremely dangerous... he also plans to resist!
Meanwhile, Guy Gardner’s Red Lantern Corps is stronger than ever (though, unsurprisingly, pissed that Jordan left them). But while a Corps fueled by rage is super effective when there’s an enemy to fight, its not as good at rendering humanitarian aid. They $&@# stuff up, not build stuff up, you know? Guy’s gotta direct his people’s anger at a punchable target before they fall apart... and he’s found one: the corrupt yet duly-elected Prime Minister of Kalanor, Despero! This certainly won’t cause more problems than it solves...

Armed with Kryptonite stakes and solar-powered cannons, Vicki feels confident she can ward off any future attack from the moonlight-powered monster.
While Eradicator and Superboy tend to the Quantum Bridge that will take them home, Henshaw tries to rest. Though his cybernetic brain does not require sleep, his organic parts still need time to recuperate after a big battle. And though he feels better, the poison of Vampire Harley's bite still courses through him. As he drifts off to what we would call sleep, he dreams...
Across the galaxy, in a dark sector of space, Dominus awakens. Is Dominus linked to Henshaw? And if so, is Henshaw gathering the Objects of Power to keep them from Dominus, or is he leading Dominus straight to them?

ACTION COMICS #9 (This is a great idea and so DC oriented.)
AQUAMAN #1 (Wet? Yes, yes I am. Reminder to self, dry off right after your next shower.)
BAT-WING #16 (So many pop culture references! I wonder if I got them all?)
DEADLY HANDS OF CONNOR HAWKE #16 (Connor's using both hands but he's facing the "Left" Hand Clan? Doesn't seem fair to me, just sayin'.)
DETECTIVE COMICS #9 (cleghorn's done a one shoit that doesn't tie into anything? Oh, wait, I just saw the back-up)
THE FLASH #16 (Wacky double date hijinks are comic book gold.)
GREEN LANTERN #16 (Have you heard about solar? With solar, you can avoid the problems of power loss, even at night and in winter.)
LEGENDS OF THE MULTIVERSE #13 (It's about time someone spread the truth that vampires are the true threat and zombies are mere poseurs.)
OUTSIDERS #13 (The worst part is that bear out to steal their pic-a-nic baskets. Can even Ranger Smith save the Outsiders?)
THE QUESTION #16 (Part Four and he FINALLY gets to the actual villain? Serious writing for the trade.)
RED X: SEASON TWO #3 (Faked a death and now you need to convince friends and acquaintances you're still alive? You may need our law offices. Call 1-888,NOT-DEAD)
SENSATION COMICS #16 (I can't believe I've actually run out of Civil War jokes.)
TEEN TITANS #6 (1989? I guess those Nirvana songs on the Titans' phones will change those robots' minds about what year it is.)

    One of everything please!
    "Darkseid...always hated music..."

Every post I make, it should be assumed by the reader that the following statement is attached: "It's all subjective. What works for me doesn't necessarily work for you, and vice versa, and that's ok. You may have a different opinion on it, but this is mine. That's the wonderful thing about being a comics fan, it's all subjective."
