I feel like we're talking in circles and this is off topic. You said continuity was "destroyed", which seems like a bit of an exaggeration. It's like saying that Deadly Genesis destroyed every single story that came afterwards, when in reality it just made Xavier a shady *******.
Every time a retcon is published, Marvel actually has to recall all previously published books and pulp them, as they are no longer canon. Needless to say, collectors are getting pretty fed up with this.
I'm under the impression the reason anyone cares about the character and remind others of him is because he is more or less a joke that got popular thanks to the internet in the "No seriously this is an actual character from comics" kind of way.
And using him and the third summers brother thing to promote a part of this series feels like someone not getting that his popularity is such a joke for most readers.
Weren't all these dangling storylines removed from continuity when they launched HOX & POX and the premise of Moira and her multiple lives. Anything that didn't fit current continuity was explained away as one of her prior timelines. Has Marvel already conceded to a failed attempt and is hoping to now retcon House and Powers one year after its launch?
