I loves me some New Universe books, so I'm voting Englehart Humperdinck.

    My vote goes to worstblogever
I think restorative nostalgia is the number one issue with comic book fans.
A fine distinction between two types of Nostalgia:

Reflective Nostalgia allows us to savor our memories but accepts that they are in the past
Restorative Nostalgia pushes back against the here and now, keeping us stuck trying to relive our glory days.

Congratulations to Nschornhorst! That was a popping cover.

Congrats to Nschornhorst, and thanks to nx01a for the vote.

As promised, here is my 'passable' Rob Liefeld cover. It is early Leifeld, so many of his 'quirks' had yet to develop, and a reprint book, so the characters had to look like they did inside, so no preponderance of belts, pouches or googles, no spine-bending poses, and nobody is wielding a gun larger than their head. And its inked by George Perez which helps immeasurably. As a result, this looks no worse than something Tom Grummett might have produced on an off day.

Even so, there is something seriously wonky about Dick's face, and there is some kind of weird foreshortening going on with Brother Blood's torso, but better than any other Liefeld cover I know of.

Like the Hawk & Dove cover I posted, the inker gets a lot of credit here.
I love the look on Raven’s face though. That’s just great.

Congrats Nschorn! You should be happy you hate such a good artist.

Foxley, one correction to your analysis of the Liefeld cover. The "foreshortened" torso. Foreshortening is when an artist draws something coming forward in the panel. Dooms arm in this great Kirby poster is an example. (the left arm in on the Titans cover is foreshortened)

What we have in the Liefeld cover is just bad drawing. But if you look closely, you will see the anatomy is not really off. The problem is the bikini brief, or whatever he is wearing. is hiked up above the waist to Grandpa pants height. It is covering his lover stomach and not his groin area. It's more of a belt with a thong.

Congratulation to Nschornhorst for a winning cover that was strong to the finish. I wonder how well it goes with olive oil?

Now the peak of the week where the captain rambles on about what he has learned this week. This was both an interesting and challenging contest in that we had to express part of ourselves in it. Generally, the participants in this contest are less likely to participate in fankid whining and trash taking books and creators. Me, I still hang on the comic boards and go on about the books. I find that talking about what you like is more interesting than going on about what you don't. Conn Seanery came up with a great idea this week because not only did we have to find "diamonds among the trash" (who know where this came from in superhero funny books?), but we got to see the dislikes of many of our fellow posters. I have found people I generally agree with having sometimes very different opinions of works and creators and posters I didn't get along with having likes very much like my own. It was fun.

Appreciation goes out to Englehart Humperdinck, kjn, and Ravin' Ray for their kind votes. This might have been the only time I will ever pay for an extra Skottie Young cover variant but this one was cool is many different ways. His name being in bold in a word balloon was also something I loved as well.

This.... is unrecognizable as Liefeld work, I wouldn't look at his signature had you not pointed it out.
