    Default Superman (current) vs all his past selves

    Trying to get a handle on how powerful the Current main comic book Superman is.

    He has the fight the following:

    1. Golden Age Superman
    2. Pre-COIE Earth-1 Superman
    3. Post-COIE Superman
    4. Pre-Flashpoint Superman
    5. New52 Superman
    6. Rebirth Superman

    7. Runs the Guantlet

    Standard Rumbles Settings.

    How does he do?

    Golden Age Superman was throwing planets together so hard they made suns by the end of it, or something like that. People underestimate how powerful he became, I'm just making a note.

    Anyway, Rebirth Superman is a combination of post crisis Superman's personality and New 52 Superman's oomph, so some of these distinctions are weird.

    Regardless, if you consider Golden Age Superman's total run, he probably loses to him, he certainly loses to pre crisis Supes, he defeats post crisis Supes, who is the same effing guy as "Pre Flashpoint Superman" so I'm not sure what distinction you're trying to make there.

    Regardless current Supes beats him also. He beats New 52 Supes for having more skill and experience ultimately.

    And then he stalemates with himself ;p

    As a gauntlet even if you want to argue he makes it past 1, he loses to 2. So not that far.

    Golden Age = 1938 - 1945
    Pre-COIE Earth-1 = 1945 - 1986 (Atomic Age, Silver Age, Bronze Age)
    Post-COIE = 1986 - 2006
    Pre-Flashpoint = 2006 - 2011
    New52 = 2011 - 2016
    Rebirth = 2016 - 2018
    Current = 2018 - present

    Post-Crisis Superman was never Superboy.
    Pre-Flashpoint Superman was Superboy with the LOSH.

    Two very different origins = two distinct incarnations, but somehow in the same timeline.

    DC is reboot-addicted.

    They were still the same guy despite that. It had simply been folded into him somehow.

    No. Earth 2 Pre Crisis Superman was given Superman's Golden Age and 50s history.

    Rebirth = 2016 - 2018
    Current = 2018 - present
    Same guy.

    Your distinctions don't make sense. Starting to feel like they're being imported from respect threads or something.

    Earth-2 Superman is NOT the Golden Age Superman.

    Earth-2 Superman is NOT the Golden Age Superman.
    DC comics themselves said as much in the 70s. They outright published a comic saying so.

    Note the "the hero of this issue, who appeared in Action 1, June, 1938..." right up at the top.

    The hero of that issue was Earth 2 Superman.

    They explicitly transferred Superman's Golden Age and 50s stuff to the guy.

    Was there another reboot? I thought Rebirth was the current continuity?

    Rebirth basically is the current continuity.

    I feel like that "basically" is doing some legwork to summarise an undoubtedly complex canon situation haha.

    It feels worth noting that "soft reboots" and retcons are also dime a dozen in the industry, so having contradictions in origin stories isn't really enough to be a different version of the character.

    It's more that there's going to be an upcoming shift to the future kinda sorta. The exact mechanics have been vague. And dumb. And contradictory.

    But until then! Rebirth is still the current continuity.

    I hope it's a cowboy hats universe this time.

    Been a severe shortage of yeehaw and rootin' and tootin' on Superman's part.

    It's probably spinning out of the Dark Nights: Death Metal series so we might get a Man of Tomorrow: Country follow up...

    The next volume of World's Finest can feature a Superman/Batman duet. "I'm a little bit country." "And I'm a little bit rock 'n roll."
