Default Cover Contest 11/18-11/24: Tough to Digest

Hi all! This week, I thought we'd go with a nearly forgotten staple of funnybooks! The Comics Digest! They used to be on newsstands and grocery checkouts everywhere, but sadly only a few remain. These pocket-sized collections of mostly reprints, but sometimes new stories bring back fond memories for me. A cursory search brought up quite a few results, so hopefully this isn't too obscure/limiting!

    Baby Piggy has some kinks...

    And now for the RULES:
    1) Post One (& ONLY ONE) Cover that fits the theme of this Week's Contest!
    2) Cover must be from a Published Comic Book, Graphic Novel, or Collected Volume!
    3) Covers must be Posted before Voting Begins!
    4) Voting Begins 12 AM Tuesday PDT (3AM EDT) and Runs Until 12 AM Tuesday PDT (3 AM EDT)! (This is in US time)
    5) Vote by Posting the name in BOLD of the Poster whose cover best fits the theme or that you simply like the most! A vote need not be in bold, but it does make it easier to Count-The-Votes!
    6) The Winner of the Contest is the Entry with the MOST Votes after the Voting-Period!
    7) It's Okay to Discuss the Covers but if you Think Someone's Entry Doesn't Fit the Theme or Violates the Rules, you Don't need to Argue it in the thread, Simply Don't Vote for It!
    8) Plus: Occasionally Voting will Result in a Tie! The Person Who Started the Thread will do the Counting that Week will Usually call for a TIE-Breaking --Vote from Someone who has Not Yet Voted!
    9) AFTER the Tie-Breaker Vote, Voting Ends and the Winner is Declared by The One Who Started the Thread (or assigned surrogate) and Thus will do the Counting.
    10) HAVE FUN!

A favorite I bought way back when. Kubert cover and Russ Manning reprints inside.

There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

I'm lazy, so instead of diligently searching for an appropriate entry, I'll just re-post a cover that I submitted to a contest a few weeks ago. After all, this is a double digest, so I ought to be able to use it twice, right? Anyway, here's a 152-page publication of reprints that were scaled down to the size of a supermarket, er, rack...

My dad had a bunch of these when I was a kid. he loved Richie Rich. Though he would often rant about how Richie Rich had a four bedroom playhouse while his friend wore rags and had a bad haircut. I loved every minute of it.

Serie-Pocket was something as strange as a reprint digest that switched from one magazine to reprint to another. So one issue might be The Phantom, next Superman, then Andy Capp, followed by some Swedish original comics.

Back home, Super Strip Bibliotaka was publishing Alan Ford (among other titles, such as Diabolik, Spider, Steel Claw, etc), in a pocket-size perfect bound, but as far as covers go, this is my favorite.
