Why do we need to change it?

Can't wait for Stan Lee's original X-Men title to debut: The Mutants!
...Ah. I see others had the same realization!

Just leave it how Stan Lee named it.
Didn't he originally want to call it "The Mutants"? Regardless, like others have mentioned there is too much money/ recognizability in the name for it to be permanently changed.

Who knows, maybe the MCU will want to distance themselves from the Fox movies so much that they'll come up with something new.

Let's use "man" as a genderless word, "human" as a male gendered word and "woman" as a female gendered word.

And his publisher told him "Nah" so he changed it so... he still named them.

In Spanish it is "La Patrulla X", which would be X-Patrol.

    I think it's cool.

Co-owned with DC. Never gonna happen again.

Why wouldn't the call it the X-Chicks? Yeah that scene was trés redickulous. X-People sounds extremely sanctimonious

I don't think it's *necessary*, but I wouldn't be opposed to it either. 'Men' is technically a genderless term, but it would be obtuse to pretend it didn't have a heavy male bend to it.

If X-Force didn't originate with Liefeld, I would choose that as a title. I also like X-Nation given how frequently that becomes a theme in the mythos.

What about the word origin of "actor" indicates one gender or another?
There are female actors, there are male actors, they perform the same functions of portraying characters? There aren't male actresses.
Oxford dictionary weighs in on the subject.

So why create separate words? Firefighter vs FireMan, Police Officer vs PoliceMAN, that kind of thing...

I would rather it stay The Xmen as that is what i like and its a cool name. If they do change it I just dont want to see Xpeople again. That title was dumb as Hell.

I don't push these things to the point of absurdity or cartoonishness, so believe me when I tell you that the word "actress" is really dumb. It's akin to calling a female medical pro "doctress".
