I like the Tom DeFalco run alot, it was his tribute to the Lee and Kirby run. Overall I'm having a hard time with the Jason Aaron run. He's trying too hard to make him funny. Thor isn't funny.

You lost me when you included Aaron as a good writer for Thor.

But beyond Simonson, I would include DeFalco, JMS, and I liked Jurgens' run with King Thor and the Reigning.

    JMS's short run is stellar.

Gillen is pretty good as well as Fraction.

But the crème de la crème is still Aaron

Was Jason Aaron a good writer for Thor? Because I always thought he used Thor as a vehicle for bashing overtly male characters and not so much about telling stories about Thor.

Uhm...Walt Simonson's run was magic. Pretty much. Believe it or not, I loved Stracynski's brief contribution to the character...I felt like he was going to bring back the magic for Thor and gave clear indications of that with what he produced.

And I'm getting good vibrations from Donnie Cates too. I feel like when Cates is done with Thor, Thor fans will have something to be proud of again.

I would recommend reading it and judge for yourself.

Roy Thomas's run is a bit pedantic, but I think it's a worthwhile read if you can read comics of that era.
