    Default Water: vital and jeopardized

I saw a documentary yesterday on the use of water all other the world and I was surprised by this fact: the Saudis, after having depleted their aquifers for agriculture, have bought land in Arizona (among other countries)… in order to do exactly the same thing.

We’re not getting oil for free, so why are we giving our water away for free?
I knew rich countries bought land in other countries to feed their people but I admit I’ve never thought about the water used. So, it’s more obvious about a land known for its dryness like Arizona.

“Strength is the lot of but a few privileged men; but austere perseverance, harsh and continuous, may be employed by the smallest of us and rarely fails of its purpose, for its silent power grows irresistibly greater with time.” Goethe
