    Default Most disliked repeated storyline

We all know some storylines gets repeated over and over again. Usually because the first time it was popular.

What are some of your least favorites - either because you think they are holding back a specific character, or because you didn't like it the first time, or just because you're tired of repetition?

Raven - Am I evil because my father is a demon.
Cyborg - Am I more man or machine?
I think restorative nostalgia is the number one issue with comic book fans.
A fine distinction between two types of Nostalgia:

Reflective Nostalgia allows us to savor our memories but accepts that they are in the past
Restorative Nostalgia pushes back against the here and now, keeping us stuck trying to relive our glory days.

Definitely two that were in the forefront of my mind. Gotham city getting taken over by baddies is another I don't need to see again.

Batman distancing himself from his family and acting like a jerk only to have to learn not to be a jerk and bringing his family back in the fold.

    -Batman vs. Superman

-Themyscira getting invaded, destroyed, or Themyscira invading the world. Add on "The Amazons are a bunch of misandrists".

-Storylines for Zatanna that center around Zatara being gone.

Ocean Master taking the throne with a plan to attack surface dwellers. I guess I don't think it's bad or anything, but...From a certain point of view, it seems like there's like...one Aquaman story. Or at least one that people feel like telling.

Aquaman getting usurrped or kicked off the throne is a pretty cliche'd storyline at this point.

Definitely Cyborg's "am I a man or machiiiiiiiinne!?" storylines and plot points. Oh, John Stewart anguishing over Xanshi is another one I can't stand.
THE SIGNAL (Duke Thomas) is DC's secret shonen protagonist so I made him a fandom wiki

also, check out "The Signal Tape" a Duke Thomas fan project.

    currently following:
    • DC: Red Hood: The Hill
    • Marvel: TBD
    • Manga (Shonen/Seinen): One Piece, My Hero, Dandadan, Jujutsu Kaisen, Kaiju No. 8, Reincarnation of The Veteran Soldier, Oblivion Rouge, ORDEAL, The Breaker: Eternal Force

Broadly speaking, I'd go with generic large-scale invasions of Earth. It just feels so played out. I can only see spaceships floating in the sky so many times. A good story can probably use that trope without relying on it as a crutch, but a crutch is what it feels like in most events and JL-centered threats. And at this point, movies as well.

Agree on all of these. Admittedly, the Zatanna/Zatara one was the only one of the three I even liked the first time.

    So very, very true.

Oh, John Stewart anguishing over Xanshi is another one I can't stand.
It was a recent comment on the John Stewart thread that prompted me to start this thread (not that I haven't thought about the repeated storylines before).
