Nuclear Man - A mix of Mr. Burns (The Simpsons) and any Captain Planet villain
X-files for the Daily Bugle's investigative journalism
For Superman in general maybe the manga Spy x Family and manhwa Peerless Dad? Both mix slice of life and action pretty well.
Jon's character maybe take inspo from real people who had to deal with getting out of their family's shadow like Kobe or Steph Curry?
december 21st has passed where are my superpowers?
Moore's Tom Strong would be a great influence. Inspiration from 2000 A.D. would be great too (like TGL is doing).
Rick & Morty for the "make up some completely crazy new location with each installment" energy.
Metropolis as a city should resemble the 2001 anime movie Metropolis, which in turn was inspired by the Fritz Lang film.
Interesting. Joe Bryant and Dell Curry might've been legit NBA players, but they weren't quite household names (I mean, nobody would call Joe Bryant or Dell Curry the Superman of this or that). Maybe if Bronny James ends up being any good, that might be a more apt comparison.
Also, no way is Jon ever going to be better than his dad.
Doctor Who because of the fun science fiction, the sense of loneliness of the character, the scope of the adventures, the ethical dilemmas, and the broad sense of perspective the character has from their unique experiences. Star trek would be interesting to draw from as well because of its optimistic view of the future and its focus on ethical dilemmas.
Flash Gordon would be another good source of inspiration, especially aesthetically.
Back to the beginning. For Batman that is Zorro. For Superman that is Tarzan of the Apes and John Carter of Mars.
