Default Current Marvel writer that you would want to take over after Hickman?

I’m currently loving this era, but I know there are some fans that are less than pleased. Out of Marvel’s current writers who would you like to see take charge of the X-books? What would your ideal story pitch be?

Gerry Duggan? I'm not sure if he's a "flagship" writer but he seems to love the X-Men.

Al Ewing could probably do a smooth transition from Hickman while maybe going a bit more traditional if that's the direction Marvel wants to take it.

I guess if we're passing the baton to "name" writers it's probably likely Donny Cates unless he's saving for Spider-Man once Nick Spencer leaves. I'm not sure I see Spencer taking over X-Men even if he wrote the first 12 issues of the Ultimate Comics X-Men.

Ewing really is the one guy who thinks big enough to be an adequate replacement.

Dang, let the man finish his story first! I'm sure he's got at least a year or two more in the tank.
Let the flames destroy all but that which is pure and true!

Ewing has already transitioned Hickman's ideas after Secret Wars with Ultimates and New Avengers so he's the right successor. But I don't expect any change in at least two or three years.

Donny Cates would be terrible, please don't.

    None.

They'd all feel pressured to copy him probably.

    Bring in new talent.

This but since Zeb Wells is writing my favorite mutant book right now, Hellions, why not give him a shot?

Yes, this is what I'm thinking as well. Give the man room to complete his vision.

But, when it does become time for him to move on, I hope there isn't another grand architect to take his place. Give me some connective tissue between the books but let each book have its own vision. I don't need another 3 to 5 years of some singular story being told across all titles. It's great that we have Hickman and this kind of approach to the brand for the next few years but after that, I'm going to want a little more creative freedom from each book. Heck, give Duggan a few titles to work with that are closely telling the same overarching story, but only a few. Then give Cates a few and Ewing a couple to do the same thing. But then give a group of books to creatives that don't have to tie together any of their stories. I just hope that the House of X stays strong and varied and large in number. I want no less than 10 books at any given moment from the X Franchise moving forward. I can dream, right?!

Definitely enjoying this era and don’t want it to end, but I see so many posters feeling down about the current run so I figured this would be a more positive outlet than just bashing on the current books.

Also that’s a really interesting idea! That way not everything would be forced to tie together but we could still get some cohesive stories across books when it makes sense.
