As said...really, really glad this was a one-and-done.
Right here with you. I'm so tired of this 'trinity' bull tbh, not just the bat.

It is very telling the state of a comic book. When the only real pleasure many fans get. Is to see a current team leaves, hoping that the next one will be better. This has been a pattern repeating itself over and over since Ruka. With only few exceptions, like some of the best moments in Orlando run. A run that was also deteriorated by editors getting in the way.

I am not sure who would be considered the 'top' talent that DC has to write this book, but it does seem that Wonder Woman does not get the top talent for either writing or the artwork. Not on a consistent basis like the Batman or even the Superman books, minus Tom Taylor or course.

For as far back as I can remember, every run on Wonder Woman had at least some fans hoping for a different creative team. You can't make everyone happy no matter who DC puts on this book. I will say that the divide of fan opinion isn't one of the worst. That prize still belongs to Azzarello with Finch coming in at 2nd place.

Anyone who hasn't read the trade should really check it out - reading it a few pages a month does it a huge disservice, especially because the story is an emotional, dialog-heavy slow burn.

The cutesy (but beautiful!) artwork, young protagonist, and general YA feel kinda throw you off, but it's honestly FAR more mature and thematically ambitious than the main book has been in a long time. Bellaire does an amazing job of building more life and complexity into the Amazons and digs into important themes about trauma that writers too often neglect, plus she clearly knows the lore back to front. Its aesthetics and storytelling harken quite a bit to Renae de Liz's Legend of WW, but thematically it feels more like an all-ages accompaniment to Historia. And most importantly, amazing Jumpa content.

Jordie Bellaire's gotta be the busiest colorist in comics so it's sort of unlikely but still, I'd love to see her write something bigger than a backup.
Young Diana (the book) is awesome. One of my favorite WW related-things in the comic-boom world rn

I'll say this and be done. Even though I enjoy the current writing team for the book, I was more excited reading Diana and Nubia: Princesses of the Amazons by Shannon and Dean Hale than this month's WW.

No disrespect, I'm glad people enjoy that stuff and the young Diana tie ins. But that stuff is too 'cutesy' to take seriously for me.

No disrespect taken. And my point exactly... I'd rather read this than what is being cranked out by the current team. They are ok but not really what I was expecting from them.

I don't know if it's the artists or Cloonan/Conrad but I'd just like to go ahead and praise how on-point Diana's fashion and civilian outfits have been in this run.

Like Diana should be a pretty stylin' woman and she particularly is in this run.

I'm normally in lockstep with this position but I thought this issue was actually pretty good in regards to their friendship.

I don't know, maybe this was a Bruce from a parallel universe where the Bronze Age is still going on.

It certainly flexed on Tom King, Timm, or hacks like Taylor.

The Diana: Princess of the Amazons books are decidedly for young kids, but the target age demo for Young Diana is less young kids and more YA/all-ages along the lines of something like Netflix's She-Ra or, as I mentioned before, Renae de Liz's Legend of WW. If that's still not your bag and/or the cutesy artwork is just too much for you to overlook, that's chill, but it's only childish if your sole benchmarks for maturity are art style and violence - it actually has something to say and addresses Real **** with nuance and empathy.

And frankly I think the story and subject matter are worlds more compelling than most of the braindead "adult" nonsense out there like Dark Knights of Steel or the Geoff Johns du jour.

Sorry if I misunderstood you, Masterwitcher. I've been accustomed to seeing my comments mischaracterized, as of late.

The Bat and Super fandoms enjoy TWO or more comics showcasing their various ideas about Superman or Batman, their related characters and their worlds. Comparatively, WW fans are left quibbling over every seemingly miniscule detail about WW, illustrated in one monthly.

Hopefully, that will change with the enthusiasm surrounding Nubia and the Amazons and her other use in the DCU. Two, sensational monthlies has always been the solution.

It's really just the artwork. I can see them handling the issues as well as they can give the target audience being basically children.

And I do not consider Johns or anything Tom Taylor made to be adult lol. Those are in fact childish depictions of mature content, like diet 'the boys' the comic version.
