I think Baloo from The Jungle Book is supposed to be a sloth bear because those are what they have in India. Tigers eat those. I think a silverback gorilla can have a chance. The problem with bears is their claws. Gorillas don't really have protection.
Now Might Joe Young vs. grizzly bears would be a good one.
