I gotta read that story. It actually seems like a really cool line up

It's all about JLA Detroit. You have Power, grace, skill and most of all, the suaveness of the courvoisier drinking, ladies man, Dale Gunn.

Although I tried out two issues of Fox & Sekowsky JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA in the 1960s, I never got the bug for the book until I picked up an issue by Mike Friedrich, Dick Dillin and Joe Giella in 1971 and then I was hooked. To me that was absolutely the most exciting run. And the thing about Friedrich is he plotted it like a Marvel book, so stories had a main plot and a sub plot or two or three and so there were always plot threads continuing on into the next issues. This hadn't happened before and it didn't happen that much after Friedrich left, until the Steve Englehart run.

Yeah, he did... none of it was remotely interesting to me and I don't think I was alone as I recall sales were garbage under him.

Nice to see this thread come back.

Also nice to see that the satellite league needs just one vote to hit 50. Great to see that it gets the love it deserves.

Geoff Johns. I love Cyborg being a founding member. Plus, my favourite supervillain Atomica debuts in that run.

SO biased against Detroit! We hate how the big 3 carry everything!
Well, no big three in Detroit! No Rings, no Speed, no arrows, just fresh faces with a Fish! and DALE FREAKING GUNN! Ya'll just jealous of Dale's play. He makes Stacy's mom look like an amateur.

There were lots of writers during this time. But mainly, it was Denny O'Neil, Mike Friedrich, Len Wein. Steve Englehart, and Gerry Conway with several more sprinkled in between.
