Acolytes

I was thinking about Nightcrawler leading the Acolytes, maybe even a title. Thoughts? Ideas for a roster?

The name is aprop for someone trying to navigate a new mutant religion (whether that means adapting / evolving parts of current faiths, or starting from scratch, who knows).

Mutants who have had some religious ties / issues in the past, such as Rahne, Dust and Jay Guthrie would seem like good choices to start. Maybe a few surprises like finding out that former Acolyte Gargouille or Unuscione was strongly religious, or something (just to justify having a former Acolyte in the new Acolytes!).

Mutants Kurt should try to keep the hell away, but would try to meddle and turn it down a more oppressive path; Exodus...

Ooh, MutantGod has some great additions as well. Indra and Oya, in particular, jumped out at me.

I like both of your suggestions and you guys had some I never even thought of or new where religious characters. I would put in Exodus just for the drama the way they put Fabian Cortez on a team with Magneto on Sword. Conniving bastard that he is. It would be interesting to see Exodus trying to wrestle control from Kurt and divide the flock so to speak. I actually thought about the Draco storyline that involved Kurt and his father Azazel. I would explore the idea of the two mutant lines that were mistaken as Angels and Demons and pit them against the Purifiers. Then the book could explore the themes of persecution and witch/mutant hunting.
