The actual golden age comics cost a small fortune, and in some cases, cost more than an average person will earn in a lifetime.
You can get collected editions of a lot of them, but some of them aren’t cheap.. Your best bet is maybe digital through DC Universe where there a lot available there.

If you like digital comics, Comixology has a sale on Marvel Masterworks, including a lot of golden age material.

Beyond that, I would highly recommend Will Eisner's The Spirit. There are a few readily available "Best Of" collections.

A collection of Jack Cole's Plastic Man gives a sense of possibly the best superhero series of the golden age.

Choke Gasp! The Best of 75 Years of EC Comics is a good introduction to that line of books, which isn't superhero comics, but is among the best and most popular of the era.
    Sincerely,
    Thomas Mets

It is strange to see so little of this early material in print now. At least the existing Archives and Masterworks give us a chance of seeing some of this old material.
