Default What Is Your All-Time Favorite Non-DC/Marvel Comic Book Series/Character?

    Hi folks (new here),

Just wondering... What Is Your All-Time Favorite Comic Series, Comics Character (Strip Character or Superhero etc)? Not published by DC/MARVEL.

What do you consider the best comic book/strip of all time?

Not sure if it is all time favorite but I like a lot of the old characters(Tarzan, John Carter, Green Hornet, Shadow).

The Dynamite series of Lone Ranger comics(particularly those written by Brett Matthews and illustrated by Sergio Cariello) were a great retelling, getting a true Western feel and a comic I often give/recommend to comic newbies who want something other than superheroes(but still heroic).

It's tough to narrow it down to one, but if I had to, it would be Jeff Smith's Bone, Will Eisner's Spirit, or Alex Raymond's Flash Gordon. The Spirit was licensed by DC (and Dynamite, Warren, Kitchen Sink and others) for a while but isn't a DC character. Flash Gordon has been licensed at one point by both Marvel and DC, but again is not a Marvel or DC character, but to make sure there is no trace of Marvel/DC in the choice, I'll go with Jeff Smith's Bone.

I'd have to say Starslayer by Mike Grell:

E.C. comics, Sin City, Stray Bullets, the Spirit, Mad Magazine. I liked Concrete quite a bit and I may have to check out TMNT. I like early Judge Dredd too!

My all-time FAV. series, not from Marvel/DC is probably Mignola's Hellboy.

My all-time fav. comic book character/superhero not from Marvel/DC is The Green Hornet.
