Not that I can remember. I found this article but it doesn't explain much. Claremont had an X-Men crossover called Mutant Wars that was aborted so I'm sure Strong Guy not making it into the X-Men had something to do with this x-over not coming out.

I remember the old solicitations for the comics back then.. Advance Comics (or maybe even before that they had little catalogs I’d get in the mail) mentioned Legion as part of the team and called Guido “Strong Man”.
