Everytime I read a new interview with him, it's so clear why DC is shaping him up to be their next big writer. He seems to know the DCU very well, but is also capable of not staying in the past and is able to move the universe forward.

Had a quick call with Mike Perkins and Ben Meares, the editor on Swamp Thing. Went through themes and plans for the upcoming Season 2. There's a lot of interesting exciting stuff coming your way with the book, still. Expect an official press release from DC shortly.

I'll be jumping back into scripting PROJECT PRESSURE in a couple of weeks. But the artist on the book should be starting with the initial pages next month. I absolutely cannot wait to see how that turns out.

Evan Narcisse & Spencer Ackerman are working on a SUICIDE SQUAD Black Label book focusing on Amanda Waller.

Hopefully they write a more nuanced Waller than we've been getting in the actual Suicide Squad comics.

I find this to be odd, primarily because I just bought Ackerman's new book, Reign of Terror: How the 9/11 Era Destabilized America and Produced Trump.

Interesting that they're giving a guy who not only doesn't have comic writing experience, but also doesn't have fiction writing experience a book - he's a journalist focusing on national security.

Cool! I love a well written Amanda. Hope the take is closer to Ostrander's than what we've seen recently.

Ackerman's also a comic critic on the side. And IIRC he's planning on experimenting with prose fiction on his Substack, though he hasn't done so yet. But you're right he doesn't have comic writing experience but I'm sure Narcisse will bring his experience along.

Tom King was a CIA agent before becoming a comic book writer. The bar is low.

Tom King wrote a novel between being a CIA agent and writing comics though. He also interned with both DC and Marvel in his late teens/early twenties, so a little different situation I believe.

Amazing even after TSS underperformed/flopped, DC is still committed to pushing the franchise. I suppose Rocksteady’s SS game will probably succeed at least.

It’s not a very inspired creative team. Narcisse is just ok. My guess is they’re trying to replicate the Grayson dynamic here.

National security sounds like a very obvious theme for Waller focused story.
