Critics who treat adult as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence.

When she'd let slip something onto the bus floor, she heard a sort of rattling, like a marble in a can. Then, all of a sudden Lucy moved and threw her case up and reflexively, Suzie ducked-

Only to feel the entire bus lurch and toss, throwing her from her seat and into the aisle. Her bushy head whipped back, and for a moment she'd almost hit the ceiling before her luggage swung out of the overhead compartment and crashed into her on the suspended trip down.
When the immediate sharp and distinctive force of the flash had passed, Lucy had intended to close the distance with her case as the makeshift shield and incapacitate the assailant. However....there was a distinct lack of a flash. For a moment Lucy was confused, had she mistimed the trigger....skimped out on one of the materials....she didn't usually made duds, but her current lack of resources had made the use of second grade materials a necessity.

One didn't just slap a flashbang together from sticks and stones...unless they had ducktape.

    Lucy never had tucktape.

Any further thought on the issue was rendered an afterthought when the driver immediately swung the wheel, causing the g force of the bus to slam everyone off to the side., Glass smashed in the background, bags went flying, screams, destruction. Lucy hadn't predicted the action, but she was able to react at least enough...catching the side of the seat while maintaining her guitar cover.

Though not before susan crashed into the aisle at her feet, and along with her everything in the overhead storage....prompting the girl to immediately drop low and cover them both while trash rained down from above.

The result was....sloppy, someone had clearly overpacked. But maintaining cover from the mans gun was priority, so the best she could do was cover what she could and take the brunt of the hits herself..

    "YEEEE-HAAW!!"

Spinning the wheel in one direction, the bus twirled, and the centrifugal forced threatened to dislodge those standing upright towards the back. Bloodied hands firmly gripping the seats, Domo would provide Jinny and Jamie the unmoveable backing to continue forth, his gaze firmly on the unconscious Debra whose position had only been maintained thanks in part to her seatbelt.
As the first to reach the pair, Boris' axe slices through the air... only to stop in mid-swing. It was almost like something had caught it, yet there was nothing in sight. It had been the same earlier, when during the confusion, Lucy had tossed a flashbang. Despite Toby's erratic driving, it should have done something to those in the back row, but there had been nothing. The only thing that had seemingly affected the two had been Vivian's smoking.

It was perhaps during this time Boris might have seen the punkish man, George, head hung low and his skin pale and clammy as he appeared to be concentrating heavily on something; unfortunately, there wouldn't be enough time to contemplate such mysteries as Flors chose to gleefully fire a shot into Boris' leg.

"Sucks to suck, little man, but none of you are crossing this 「Florida Georgia Line」!"
As the bus continued to be driven like, someone had seemed fit enough to try and engage the armed man with a hand axe. Brave or stupid, she couldn't tell....but he was a distraction non the less. Steadying herself, Lucy put her arm around Suzan and pulled both her and the heavily disguised woman to the safety of the closest seat....only briefly catching the sight of the mans axe bouncing harmlessly off the air directly in front of their assailant.

"He was shielded..." Lucy whispered. It made sense, just not a realistic type of sense.

It explained why he flashbang never reached the target, though not why it never went off. Perhaps it muted the force somehow.....projectiles were also likely off the table.

    Then how.....how could she....

    Her eyes flashed with inspiration.

A gunshot rang out and the cigarette was torn in half, a nearby window cracked by the bullet which barely seemed to penetrate the glass.

"Jesus, woman!" Flors called out, "George has asthma for fucks sake!"
The gunman had went through particular lengths to demonstrate a point earlier, and just the concept that the air quality mattered to the men in the back meant that.....among many things, nothing was keeping smoke from getting to them.

Now covered behind the seat, Lucy snapped open her guitar case...not longer hiding its contents to Suzie, who would very clearly see it was not carrying a guitar. The interior was predominately a very impressive looking rifle, some other handguns, a collection on canisters(some clearly juryrigged from tin cans and other materials) and packaged half eaten jerky that gave off an aura of sadness....somehow.

Reaching in, she pulled out two of the less juryrigged canisters....then looked suzie in the eyes. "Run to the front, don't stop....its going to get very bad back here very quickly. Hold your breath and run."

Lucy flicked her eyes to the asile, as if indicating she should get ready.....then she yelled, loudly. "CLEAR THE BACK!"

Pulling the pins, she took one big deep breath and lobbed them over the seat, landing in the seats just ahead of the rear before immediate blasting out their contents......teargas.

Unsurprisingly, being slammed by a vehicle undergoing erratic motion was a pretty effective way to get knocked into some semblance of coherence. It also hurt like hell, especially when followed by a sudden yet deliberately done lurch that had Gula on her back and nearing wishing she had ate maybe a third of what she had- the constant jerks of the jerk jerking the bus around like a madman was both maddening and facilitative to potential disgorgement- which would be simply... dreadful.

Given the ongoing perilious situation- especially the constant hard turns from the madman at the wheel- Gula opted to stay prone, instead of trying to get back to a seat- or worse, stand.

    Hair spray?

One of the first things she heard after she regained her bearings from being thrown around by the bus was a shouted question that on first, second, and third thought didn't make much sense to her. After all, what was hair spray going to do in a situation like this?

Ultimately, that wasn't any of her concern- though if the man thought he could do something to deal with this situation...

"It's not likely, but I may have some in my bag!" Gula shouted back as she crawled to where she remember placing the bag... only to find it wasn't there- almost certainly having been jerked around by the jerk jerking the bus every which way.

OOC: Perception check to find a displaced midsized magenta purse with penguin designs? Unfortunately, there's no actual hairspray in the bag (that bag's in the compartment outside), though depending on what the hairspray's needed for, there's three things inside that may serve as substitutes- disinfectant spray, cooking spray (don't ask), and pepper spray.

...About the gunman at least. Now Toby Keith, on the other hand...he was a problem too. Driving like a lunatic out here. Maybe if he could get the jump on him, he could at least help put an end to part of this insanity. Miguel held onto the bus seats, using them to pull himself closer and closer towards the driver's seat in an attempt to stop the mad man intent on steering this ship directly to hell.
Miguel would find it difficult to get a read on just what Toby was doing up there. The privacy door, firmly shut, now seemed more like a prison cell door at this point.

Despite feeling some unnatural resistance, her spell seems to work as the telltale sounds of a tire bursting could be heard outside. Strangely, however, the bus drove as if nothing had happened, even as one of its rims was now spinning without rubber.

At first glance, Jamie would find everything she needed to know. Namely, that Debra had been aware throughout this whole ordeal, but the mere vertigo of a moving vehicle, nonetheless the death trap they were currently one, shut her down completely with vertigo. Upon pulling up her eye mask, Jamie and Jinny would both find themselves threatened with the risk of being covered in vomit.

"They ain't moving at all, like?" She said, her eyes bugging wide as George and Flors did their thing. The gunman seemed to take some sadistic glee in his endeavours, but his mate, he seemed to be a little worse for wear.

Suppose that might be the problem with packing in a rush on the dredges of a fever, and as it split open, Suzie's suitcase only held intact the change of garments. The case netting tore above a ruptured zipper, and as a result any number of hastily packed items spilled out in a clutter.

Zipper-pouches ruffled along the floor, compact mirrors and half-emptied tubes.

    Double-sided tape.

As the bus swevered, everything seemed to rattle and roll on the bus floor.

What the hell was going on? This was all just plain unnatural!

Pulling herself up to her side. she clutched her suitcase, absently tugging at a zipper as she bemoaning the tattered condition of her professional kit where it had spilled out.

"...shielded?" she said, still a bundle of nerves even as Lucy made her analysis. It was strange. As soon as things went south it seems some sort of change had come over her impromptu seatmate.

Yet as the bus driven by the madman revved up, George and Flors seemed to stick where they were, no matter how sick the former looked.

Silence gripped her. If she could somehow fall paler, she would have when Lucy revealed her arsenal.

Without a word, she cut and run, when that oily voice came over the speaker system.

She only got perhaps three rows down before she threw herself into the nearest enclosure...behind the bombed-out bar, and jumped onto her tattered suitcase, braced against a shelf.

not like this not like this not like this--- Her thought raced between breaths to the rhythm of an ever escalating pulse.

Too much **** was happening at once! How the **** was Sandra supposed to deal with any of it when that fucking ******* was throwing the buss around like it was some kind of video game. She gritted her teeth and held onto the headrest of the seat she was hiding behind for dear life. That was all she could do, nevermind trying to get to the back to break some face.

She felt her stomach lurch. "****," she gritted right as she got that gut feeling that the next moment was going to be accompanied by a very painful impact. She crawled under the seat and held onto anything she could for dear life.

The immediate lurch in gravity meant only one thing....well two if you include the drivers penchant for self harm. But more importantly they were airborn.

With nothing to do but prepare for the inevitable sudden stop that usually follows this, Lucy jammed the two canisters as hard as she could into the seat to direct the gas but keep them from being launched back towards the front of the bus, swung herself over to the the seat in front of secured and braced with anything available.

Who knew they had a cosmetologist on board?
John hastily grabbed the can of hairspray.

It was roughly about this time that the Volbeat had entered town. A small town by the name of Driftwood, there wasn't much to it, but Toby wasn't going to let a little something like that stop him.

"Check this **** out." He said to himself as he slammed the bus straight into a guard rail. Much like Jamie had thought before, the scene looked like something out of an action movie, the way the bus flew through the air, turning to its side.

All of them, including Lucy who was just about to throw those canisters, would feel their stomachs lurch as the lack of gravity was distinctively felt. [They needed to brace for impact, and quickly]
John braced himself for impact, using all his knowledge of physics to put himself in the best position he could to survive with a minimum of injuries. After he did so, he scanned the bus. There was a specific passenger he needed to keep track of, because he was sure they would have the other item he needed for his plan, an item that he couldn't ask a loud for without tipping off the enemy. He needed to keep track of the passenger who smoked. Because if smoke could get through the forcefield, then it stood to reason that hairspray could to.

And if Hairspray got through, then he could do a lot of damage with a lighter.

Good news was, she found her bag.

Bad news was, it was a whole lot closer to the two she (and presumably everyone else) was trying not to be shot by than she was comfortable with... not that there was comfort of any sort to be had on the ground as she was.

Gula was really starting to regret not listening to her personal assistants.

Scurrying in a manner reminscent of times long since past, she made her way as safely as she could (i.e. not at all, in truth) towards her bag-

-and just about reached it before she felt a unfortunately all-too-familiar lurch; it was only just barely that she managed to grab the bag's strap as she dove for and clung to the closest thing that looked sturdy enough to hold fast for what was coming.

Vivian grabbed hold of her hat, and then her cigarette in that order; before cackling at the sudden turn of events.

"I have no idea what's going on, but this is definitely some Truck Stop Magic!"

Yeah, but if you... man, we're getting into weird analogy territory, like if you disintegrated Superman's arms he wouldn't be able to go "fool! Little did you know that my arms and I are one and can be remade from me!" and will his arms back into being from pure nothingness. - Pendaran
