Because Marvel no longer cares about continuity they've had Apocalypse appearing in pre-Egyptian times in a couple of stories in recent years.

He’s Jane’s son when she travelled into the future and had a kid with Kang. He was always a coward until he was possessed one day by the brother of the Phoenix force.

He then travelled into the distant past, but it was an Android replica that hung on the World Tree.

This ancient avengers and Phoenix being in Thor’s family tree would probably work a lot better if it was Buri leading the Cavengers and hooked up with Phoenix

the only time they referenced his stuff in recent memory would be the Life Seed in Age of X-Man and it wasn't exactly the same.

True, we do not know what all this mixed-up new history is leading towards, but it seems to negate everything we ever knew for decades.

I am just asking here---but would Marvel allow all of this if it did not have an acceptable ending? So many core characters---such as Thor---are affected.

other writers made crappy retcons over the last few years but Aaron made more than them.

- cave woman wanted for her son to take up her mantle and power as the Phoenix but Odin didn't want that
- Odin vs Phoenix begins
- Odin wins because the Mother Storm inside Mjölnir helped him because it/she is a rival to Phoenix (Phoenix was noted to be afraid of it/her)
- Phoenix submits and lets Odin keep Thor but despises him for it which explains why Phoenix was so pissed at him when he called her in Thor: Generations and threatened him to destroy Asgard if he ever calls her again
