I think an easy way to look at Thanos stories is that anything written by Jim Starlin, Ron Marz and Keith Giffen is the real Thanos while anything written by other authors should be dismissed as a Thanosi clone.

Like a Red Dragon, The Phoenix shall Soar in 2024!
BMB has saved me a lot of money at DC in the last few years
Some of the things he scripts seems genuinely banal , purile and frankly asainine, in my opinion
It's beyond belief to me that publishers and editors don't see this kind of thing and feint
In my view

At this point using Aaron to smooth out a few wrinkles a character might have is like using a tactical nuke to wipe an anthill from your lawn. Sure, after you use the nuke the anthill is toast but so is your lawn, and your house, and the neighbor's property, and the street, and the block.....

Ommadon: “By summoning all the dark powers I will infest the spirit of man So that he uses his science and logic to destroy himself. Greed and avarice shall prevail, and those who do not hear my words shall pay the price. I'll teach man to use his machines, I'll show him what distorted science can give birth to. I'll teach him to fly like a fairy, and I'll give him the ultimate answer to all his science can ask. And the world will be free for my magic again.”
I really enjoyed Thor today. Nice ending!
And the best characterization of Thor from Cates so far, imo. The art by Klein stood out.
Now I'm curious about the next arc.
Well, let me preface this by saying that I like Cates' Thor in general. He 'gets' Thor, IMO.
But his execution? Wow, pretty bad.
The end of this arc is just baffling. It's needlessly cruel and doesn't fit thematically. A waste of an arc, IMO
Can you imagine Aaron at DC taking the reins for Superman, saying "Superman" is a title, giving it a woman, and turning Thor into a drunken, inept red neck? DC fans would lynch him. Heck, DC editorial would lynch this guy. As was said, I'm just glad he's not working on anything else I like. "Comic buff", pfft.
"Sir, does this mean that Ann Margret's not coming?"
