I think I enjoy the side characters the most in term of writing though. Monica, W'kabi and Taku are great. The two minions of Killmonger, whom serves as comedy relief, are also fun. I'm expecting a turning point for them.

The art is consistent and very good. Priest really borrowed a lot from this run and developed it further. Sucks I can't finish it.
Yes, he does. I love Reginal Hudlin's take on BP taking those beat downs:

We get one line about his old suit design. One. Actually my favorite T'Challa scene was the deleted scene in Captain America Civil War when he is talking to Black Widow. It shows how his mind operates. It shows how he cannot be manipulated by Widow. He even analyzes her briefly. And he is a step ahead of her. That is comics T'Challa. Cool, calm collected and a step ahead of you:

Yeah, it's something that I was annoyed it didn't make it in CW and it really annoyed me that it wasn't followed up in BP. I really disliked how when his genius gets brought up, it was in poking fun that it's old outdated tech, and then his genius is never mentioned again. It was something I really wanted to see them follow up on. At the very least giving us a scene similar to this one above with widow. Where Shuri may be the smartest in Wakanda, but T'Challa is still a step ahead and showing his own Super genius

If the ending of the story was different, I wouldn't have such a problem with it.

It is just a... bit much. And the ending sucked and doesn't make it worth it.

McGregor was all about that nobility. His Panther was a warrior poet/philosopher. More poet than warrior, hence the ass-beatings.

    Gillis was slightly better.

Tchalla getting his ass beat by a god makes sense... he was never gonna win that fight physically, but philosophically.

Plus at least tchalla beat supremacists depowered. And gillis had tchalla kill reanimated killmonger by himself

I would say at the time? Gillis had the best showing of T'Challa since his debut in FF up until Priest.

That's why I said Gillis was slightly better. Less dialogue, more fighting, less pyrrhic victories.

    Still chatty though.

Speaking of old-school Black Panther, I watched the 90s Fantastic Four animated series' version of the Black Panther's debut story today. Would be cool if we got Keith David as the voice of T'Challa again at some point, preferably older, more experienced, and even wiser. Hell, bring all the Black Panther VAs we've had together --- Keith David, Djimon Honsou, James C. Mathis, and now Christopher Judge --- for an epic Black Panther story celebrating his life, history, and future. Hmm, come to think of it . . . a Black Panther Life Story in the comics could be great, too.

It would be really epic if we got a Black Panther animated series that’s on the same level of quality of Batman The Animated Series. Just think we could have villain of the week stories where T’Challas lesser known rogues can finally get some mainstream exposure like Achebe or Madame Slay and we could get some high profile Black voice actors involved like Phil Llamar and Cree Summer.

As long as they skip the Coates era.

The only thing I'd really preserve from that is the concept of the Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda, if only because I'm a sucker for the Jungian shadow archetype, which the Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda was set up as being for Wakanda proper, the dark flipside of Wakanda's proverbial coin. Of course, it would have to be heavily retooled and especially condensed, since I can definitely agree that it went on too long before or without saying what it really wanted or needed to say.

That's a tough one. I like the idea of Wakanda in space, I just didn't like how it was executed under Coates. But it's here to stay in the comics so hopefully someone can come along and do a better job with it.

Agreed that the execution was the real problem, and yeah, also hoping someone might come along and retool it in a way that could actually work.
