And as I said before, it’s already been confirmed W’kabi will be coming back for this one. But yeah it looks like they’re leaning heavy into Black girl magic for this one. Unless W’kabi gets a redemption arc, M’Baku and Ross will be the only heroic males in this movie, with the former being the only heroic Black male.

Here’s another piece of fan art I came across with a different candidate for a recast in Y’lan Noel.

I don’t expect much from W’Kabi. Between the inevitable Dora Milaje push, Shuri’s arc to take the mantle, Nakia’s response to her lover’s death, the worldbuilding of Wakanda, the worldbuilding of Atlantis and Prince Namor, follow up on the international themes of the first movie, and most importantly, “honoring” Boseman, I don’t see W’Kabi being a high priority. He may get a small redemption arc along the lines of a quick realization he was wrong so he can join up in the final battle, but I think his screentime and actual development will be minimal.

If anything he may get a revival on the small screen if Okoye is indeed gonna be the lead of the likely Dora Milaje D+ show, since he is her ex. But yea black male representation is taking an otherworldly hit in the sequel lol. When most of the black male presence was carried by your lead and the villain, taking them out the equation pretty much leaves you with nothing. All the other black dudes are dead or were small-time players to the female supporting cast.

A part of me hopes M’Baku gets a push (maybe he mentors Shuri or if the rumors are true we get two BPs, he ends up being one of them) but I’m not expecting it. Like W’Kabi, I suspect he’ll get more to do on D+ while the movies bank on the black girl magic thing. I don’t think we’ll be seeing Vibraxas, Kasper Cole, or Zawavari anytime soon or as anything more than Easter eggs lol.

Did I misread because I could’ve sworn he had some lines talking to Cap. Something about “the ancestors showing the way.”

Villains and redshirts my friend, villains and redshirts. There must always be henchmen for the hero to beat up and there must always be redshirts to die in place of the hero.

    Star Trek taught us that.

Might be a tie between him and Thor from the original line-up of this run as the Avengers who've missed the most issues.

I forget, Dr. Strange is in first place.

They told us DS was going to rotate out though.

I think one of the things of being a "leader" sometimes is that you stay home and coordinate.

Oh well, life of being part of a team book i suppose.

Plus I guess it might be bad fo rhte King of Wakanda to be invading Russia or whatever.

Nvm I was looking at the previous issue. I’d rather him not be in the issue if he doesn’t play a major role though. Or if he doesn’t do something that stands out.

There was another fan casting of another actor. Who was it again?

Also more and more I am getting on board with the idea that Sope Dirisu would be a good successor to T'Chadwick

Helps that Sope is 30-31. So if it were to happen he could be in it for the long haul.

At this point I want to know if they'll do the Texeira or the capeless Velluto habit.

No doubt we'll see MCU alt skins, likely one based on Stelfreeze's habit, and maybe Hudlin's Thrice Bless Armor. I think that appeared as an alt skin for T'Challa in mobile games.

My 3 choice's on no particular order:

    Sope Dirisu
    Trevante Rhodes
    Yahya mateen
With honorable mentions of Nathan Mitchell or Jesse usher from The Boys

You know how I initially said I wouldn’t want JDW as a successor because of his height? Well after looking up the heights of the other cast members (ex: Letitia Wright: 5’6, Lupita Nyongo: 5’5), I guess the 5’9 JDW wouldn’t be too jarring. Lmao.
