It's Best Picture not Best Actor that's the last award for the night. Best Actor I think is usually before it.

That's what makes this whole thing worse. They presented Best Picture as the first award of the night and put Best Actor last assuming Chadwick would win or baiting people into thinking he would win.

Did they? I haven't watched it in years. That does come across as questionable.

I suspect it has more to do with ratings than anything else. That's usually the case with awards show.

Yeah they have. Actually the ratings for a lot of awards shows have been plunging every year. Audiences must be over awards shows as much as I am.

I will say that Hopkins put up a hell of a performance and him winning doesn’t upset me. The Oscars using Boseman’s passing to inflate views is not surprising. But his performance in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom felt Oscar-worthy whether he were with us today or not and I’m happy he got the nomination at least.

Yeah they definitely did that to hike up viewership. It's really scummy to do . It's like, they are playing two games. On one side they are acting like BP was his defining moment and no one can carry the baton forward, then the other side "Hey of Chad wins the oscar he will be one of 3 posthumous actors to win AND be the first african american to do so, come watch and see!!" I don't care for the Oscars but I think that's a shitty thing to do, using Someones death to garner more views

Let's be fair, tho... Marvel Studios isn't running the Oscars. And there's no evidence that I can see that Disney had much to say about either BP or the Oscars.

I think we're dealing with two different agendas, here. Short term ratings, and whatever the heck Feige has planned.

One to Garner views off his death and the other to completely shut out the hard work, blood, sweat and tears put into bringing a Character that frankly millions all over the world, black folk's especially, needed to see. It's just frustrating to see it unfold and people thinking that this is somehow respectful to his legacy
