Wasn't Coogler quoted as comparing BP1 to James Bond? If so, they didn't stop making movies when Connery left. Don't kill off T'Challa. He doesn't have to be in BP2, but just let him live and be off doing something else. Recast for the 3rd movie or Avengers 5.

Lol That Erin Cummings just proved her complete ignorance and lack of basic research regarding Chad. it's embarrassing how people can be so dense when information is literally at your fingertips and you claim basically that Chadwick was so selfish and self centered, that he told Feige not to recast on these apparent "multiple conversations over the months" when Feige and Many others said they had no idea... Big oof on her part.

Though she had some good points at other parts in the video, that point right there kinda invalidates alot of it. Trust Feige and Coogler?

Dudes has a mountainous pile of shot stacked against them and they decide to take the lead (guy who's name is on the title) out of his own franchise and continue on with side characters, with the new leading actor being among the weakest of all of them and posted and supported some anti vaxx and homophobic isht on Twitter.. that's who is going to carry on the franchise? People have said movies will struggle on far less...

That was always a horrible comparison and diminishing to TChalla. And clearly he didnt mean it since he's pushing a james bond movie missing james bond.

The house of Ekie has zero faith in Feigie and Coogler, i might catch the bootleg after spoilers

Yep! I'm praying T'Challa shows up at the end even if it's Luke Skywaler style from TFA.

You BP:WF peeps should be very concerned about the potential underwater CGI though. Whoooo boy... that sort of CGI on a rush? Yikes

Hmmm, Feels like they playing us against each other and in the end we both lose. Oh well, at least I get one more BP movie no matter what.
Oh the line of folks that want that movie to FAIL do not live in this thread.

Those folks are the same ones who made 40 hours worth of videos trashing Cap Marvel.
The folks who will point out Catwoman and Proud Mary bombing.
The folks looking for ANYTHING that will get Marvel started on a film with a fantastic family or folks on a certain island.
The folks looking for a Marvel flop.
The folks looking for SOMETHING to fail so the likes of Antman and other low levels at Marvel can stop getting shots.
This is the calm before the storm.

Nah I was just overreactive to BP not being universally loved like a hoped. And I'm a Coates fan so I try to challenge perspectives. Black people who are highly successful before I kinda just hope they continue being successful.

BP2 is something I'm legit having issues with it. Because its set up to be something I wont love like I want. So it legit bothers me when I see

The curse of being a perfectionist. I think if Coates was trying to be Priest I would be harsher towards him. Since its something totally different in terms of tone/vibe/deconstruction I can embrace it for what it is.

However, BP the groundwork was done. Now they are abandoning it in the middle so its frustrating. Especially being a Coogler fan and watch him (whether his decision or by orders) follow whats happening. Although sensitive to grief.

It make sense you'd not be on board with BP:WF not having T'Challa. He's the main character after all.

I'm a big Coogler fan too though. Creed is one of my favorite films ever. So I want him to win and win big. However, these choices (by him or Feige) are making it exceedingly difficult. Also I want black people in general to enjoy another major hit. Now that's its real some things just seem counterintuitive.

I see what you mean. It's not ideal and I can't say I'm super excited for this movie but I haven't written it off yet either. Idk whether it'll necessarily feel better for you, at least until the movie comes out. It seems Marvel is now closely attached to specific actors, although they did recast before, but then again none of the previous actors passed away. Idk if they've made the right decision now. I'm more interested in specific characters, especially T'Challa, rather than Wakanda as a whole, and I was personally hoping the sequel would be less Wakanda focused. Still, I can't say it's all doom and gloom.

Personally, I don’t feel the need to defend a movie that I have almost no information on.
I want T’Challa, but I’m also patient enough to wait and react to official news on how they’re going to handle the movie. I understand the concerns of the OG Black Panther fans on this forum, but I’m also highly suspicious of the posters that bring only doom and gloom to your doors.

    T’Challa must live!

On the comics’ side, I was out a longggggg time ago, and I’m not coming back unless a retcon, reboot and/or a separate continuity title is announced.

Not a fan of recent T'Challa comics?
