That's one thing Coates was good at. Creating characters, giving them miniscule amounts of development then have then either be some big savior randomly, or kill them off which made you think "Why the Frak did you waste our time with that isht?"
Yeah I truly hate what they did to malice on WF. Not only was it a isht mini, but turning her into a crackheads looking user and killing her off for boring as space Nakia was just dumb. The whole deal. Waste of a good character for a shit one who also got killed off but not really
I don’t have a problem with OG Nakia getting killed off. They probably did that more to have a version of the character that could interact with the Dora like she did in the movies. She’s not really able to be turned into a legitimate Catwoman because she was introduced as underage and Marvel should’ve long moved past the trope of the boy-crazy murderer anyway.
Her getting killed off is just basic house cleaning for a more modern BP mythos. I just don’t think an entire story should’ve been made about it because it brought attention to her problematic history and was a wasted opportunity to tell a more unique Dora story. We weren’t that far removed from A Nation Under Our Feet by the time it came out, why tell another story about misunderstood rogue Dora Milaje? Seemed like a waste, even if we did get some cool tidbits about the Dora training process.
What’s really inexcusable was killing off Space Nakia, that was purely done because Coates wanted Storm to be by T’Challa’s side by the end of the run. He couldn’t handle the idea that two characters would have to work through their emotions for the same man so he just killed one off, which is about as sexist as what Priest did with Malice. Bad writing all around, but at least it’s one less Space Wakandan we gotta deal with.
Now if someone could merge the consciousness of NuM’Baku and the original I’d be happy lol. Ridley will probably introduce a love interest from Earth-616 and that’s for the best. Coates thankfully killed off a lot of his own legacy in his run so I’m excited to see how Ridley hits the ground running.
the saddest thing for me is my BP arcs would entirely solve all the problems you guys are talking about and it's almost a sure thing now that it'll come out in Faux Panther, Indie comics form.
Meanwhile, GREEN LANTERN currently stars four brown people, two of whom are female and two of whom are black.
Wonder what in the world the Distinguished Competition is thinking about.
To jump back into the comics real quick I’m a little confused still about the Spear of Bashenga. Here earlier in Coates run TChalla summons the spear and throws it through a Submarine while underwater. But then later in the run Killmonger is able to break it. How is that possible with something that durable that seems to be made of pure energy?
Welp...they did it.

You should spoiler that, Klaue.
