T'challa's Greatest Comic Book Feats: http://blackpanthermarvel.blogspot.c...her-feats.html
I would rather anew angle all together, how the 4 siblings deal with the death of the King:
T'Challa- watched his dad dad in front of him, hates how unprepared he was, becomes paranoid, he drove back klaw but hates he wasn't faster, feels like he failed his father because he taught him to tribe prepared for the unknown.
Hunter- feels he failed, he going to change the HZ into the extremist they are on Priest version, has a strong nationalist mindset whole also feeling the guilt that an outsider killed the King with his feelingd already
Jakarra - survivor's guilt. He Wonders why he lived and his father died (doesn't actually see his death) and goes insane because of the trauma
Shuri - least affected, she wasn't born yet/ too young to remember so she doesn't carry the trauma
T'Challa
A.K.A. The Black Panther
King of Wakanda
King of the Dead and The Champion of Bast
Two-Time Time Magazine "Person Of The Year"
Six-Time People Magazine "Sexiest Man Alive"
It's what I want Ridley to touch on eventually, give each sibling a personality and build around that.
T'Challa is emotionally distant, had a hard time trusting and being close to people fully to the point of almost being cold. Very pragmatic
Hunter, extremely manipulative to a point that rivals T'Challa, had loyalty to Wakanda the most and not particularly to the ruler so he does what he thinks is best. But deep down is desperately wanting to feel accepted
Jakarra, completely unhinged, he is hurting and feels guilt and that he should of died, wants to prevent the death of people he loves but goes about it by mutation
Shuri the optimistic one, wears her heart on her sleeve
I want all mediums to do this. Really solidify his origin
Okay you do know that there is a difference.
Being in a book and BEING in a book are two different things.
What has held back many characters ESPECIALLY black ones is that they are in books and that is it.
See Duke Thomas under Tom King in Batman. See Cyborg & John Stewart under Johns. See Wanda the past 10 years.
What folks here have been upset about is Black Panther being an after thought in his own books.
What folks tire of is Black Panther being used as a prop for others. His books have been used to prop up everybody but HIM.
What folks tire of is Black Panther MIGHT do something and NOBODY cares to continue. Like Cyborg-folks tire of Man versus Machine stories. Here folks tire of a King that gets talked down to every which way but RIGHT.
We see content with his NAME on it but it's not about him. It is generally bashing him.
Nobody goes to Justice League to see WW, Batman, Superman, Barry & Aquaman have feats.
Nobody goes to Teen Titans Academy to see Nightwing have feats.
So why should anyone go to Avengers whatever to see it with Panther? That is NOT his franchise. he's a branch of it like Cap, Thor and others but it is not HIS.
Just like Wakanda is NOT Storm's. Black Panther is not her either. That is X-Men. If fans have to go OUTSIDE a franchise to get entertainment-something is NOT right. Someone is not doing their job.
Funny Marvel understands this with those Shuri novels to build her up yet can't understand that in the comics.
The problem with "supporting the character" is that, if you buy works with sub-par content, the publisher is under no obligation to improve the content.
"Why bother giving Black Panther a prominent role in the book? Just slap him on the cover and have him in a few crowd scenes, and his fans will snap it up!"
There’s already enough people out there who won’t support Black Panther just because he’s black, in a black country, doing things that promote black culture. I don’t want to join them. The example you gave about him being in crowd scenes simply doesn’t happen in solo series with the star character. Like I said previously I wouldn’t support a book that portrays Panther poorly. But it’s going to have to be some really bad writing.
I know there's a "bit" of anti Killmonger talk here with the Ekie's of the world obsessed with Coogler's infactuation with MBJ.
However, I gotta say that no Boseman, no T'Challa is bad enough as it is. Just taking bias out of it I think the sequel is going to miss the charisma of MBJ/Killmonger and the acting chops of Andy Serkis.
Coogler said he regretted killing Klaue. There are those who think no matter how impactful their deaths to the story that Killmonger/Klaue were taken out way too soon. He kind of corned himself with Namor. Maybe the actor crushes it. It can not be underestimated just how big of a loss Boseman/T'Challa, MBJ/Killmonger, Serkis/Klaue are to the franchise. That is the loss of a LOT of talent. Its like stripping the Bulls of Jordan/Pippen/Rodman and thinking Kukoc can just pick up the slack.
And you'd think Coogler would have learned his lesson about killing important characters by not killing T'Challa.
