Marston's ghost whenever he hears Diana is the daughter of Zeus:

Yes I realize the irony of using Master Pakku for this but god dammit, the meme is too perfect.
Hey XM Studios is doing a big diorama of Diana vs. her Rogues similar to the Batman one! Pleasantly surprised about this.
For when my rants on the forums just aren’t enough: https://thevindicativevordan.tumblr.com/
That's cool! Would never buy it since of course it's probably like $300 and just not a fan of Dianas face (it goes with the moment but....yeah)
I read somewhere that Diana as Zeus daughter was actually Geoff Johns idea and Azarello was just the hit-man. Any validity to these rumors? It does fit Johns MO of wanting to 'fix' and overly simplify characters and Azarello has previously never bothered with continuity based or re-telling characters origins, he just wants to tell dark, noir influenced mood pieces. I actually enjoyed a lot of his stories before it got tainted by his WW run.
Add another 0 in there and that will probably be more accurate.
These kinds of statues rarely go below $1,500.
Since they are getting Kevin Hart to voice Ace I have hope they will have Jumpa.
Even better if it's Kate McKinnon who voices her.

The way I heard it--and these are just rumors, too--was higher-ups at DC had been pushing for Wonder Woman to have a father for years. Azzarello was just the guy who pulled the actual trigger. And allegedly (again, rumors) some of the ideas for who the dad should be were really bad, so he ran with Zeus because he figured that would be the least offensive.
I suppose mileage will vary on whether he was right about that.
I do think there's validity to the rumor DC was trying to force the dad issue for a while. I don't think it's a coincidence shortly before Daddy-Zeus came about we saw the DCAU tease Hades might be Diana's father, and during Gail Simone's run Cottus declared he's technically Diana's father because the clay she was made from came from him.
I always got the impression the actual writers weren't into it, which is why in both instances Diana just dismisses it and doesn't care in the slightest.
If I had to bet, I'd wager Dan DiDio was a big part of it. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if Geoff Johns had a hand in it, too.
And I can totally see a bunch of these guys agonizing over Wonder Woman not having a father because god forbid a woman be powerful because of other women or on her own terms.
