To me, it makes more sense that different amazons "rep" different animal motifs based on personal taste, deity worship afiliation (each deity had a different animal symbol), aesthetic preference, etc. Also makes the amazon seem less of a Borg-like society (why does everyone have to wear some sort of eagle across their chest?
