Nubia being Diana's twin sister garners a lot more attention than Nubia being an ordinary Amazon.

You mean aside from adding rich lore to the amazon royal family without adding a male influence, creating a new story path out of Themyscira, expanding Diana's history, and adding a nice bit of diversity to the Wonderfam; which at the time was only Diana, Hippolyta, and (I think) Donna.

Would you prefer DC bring Jason back or have Donna be Diana's twin? Because, DC seems pretty keen on this secret twin thing for Diana, it might as be one people actually like.

What do you feel about Diana and Nubia not being siblings?
In any case, this is literally my most anticipated upcoming WW-related book.
I cannot wait to see how her story is established!!!

I was kind of psyched about them being twins again, which was LL McKinney's intention. But with the switch in writers, they decided to go in a different direction, and have valid reasons for wanting that. Honestly, I'm just happy to have Nubia back. So I'll deal with it.

You can do almost all of that without adding a token secret twin sister to the main character who’s name is almost literally “the black one”.

This is DC’s opportunity to divorce Nubia from that horrible origin once and for all. Hopefully, with some creative storytelling, she will come to stand out as her own character rather than being “Diana’s sister”.

I hope DC just abandons the ridiculous idea of Diana having ANY twins, though I think it’s funny how folks are willing to accept this change in her origin, but not giving her a dad…

How was Nubia's origin a horrible one? All you'd need to do is have Diana in on the loop that she had a twin, so its not a secret to her just the audience. I wasn't a fan of her graphic novel, but it did that just fine.

Yeah none of those things require this weird idea of her having a sister that was designed to look nothing like her. I think Nubia as hersister is slightly better than Jason, but I would still much rather have Nubia's origin be something else. To me Nubia should be an amazon that arrived on Paradise Island when Diana was 18 years old, and in that way be the first person Diana could relate to in terms of age. And she should be the first amazon to follow Diana's footsteps in leaving Paradise Island to transform our world.

Nubia and the Amazons writer Stephanie Williams reveals in a recent podcast interview that Nubia will no longer be Diana's twin sister, though they will have a "connection."

Nubia will, of course, interact with Philippus, with Williams noting how infrequently Black women characters are permitted to interact in a congenial manner in comic books.

Nubia and the Amazons will be Nubia's "T'Challa moment" and it will be about establishing her origin, powers, and place in history. Her hero's quest story, essentially.

Rebooting something that was in the middle of being told is ridiculous, and yet more of DC continuing their failure to make things " less confusing" in their continuity....

To a lot of people, making her Diana's actual sister is important. She's not just some random Amazon, but of equal importance as a Princess of Themiscyra, daughter to the Queen (in fact, isn't that why Hippolyta made Nubia queen?) She's of equal standing with Diana. Yes you can have another Amazon with all those powers, etc, but at a deeper level, the sisterhood connection is a very important part of why Nubia resonates with a lot of folks.

I believe that was a criteria unique to her writing Future State. But I am not sure.

That wasn't leading up to ruining anything with them deciding that main Nubia wouldnt be Dianas twin. She can be Diana's honorary sister just like Donna has been depending on one of the many origins.

Same here! I am incredibly excited about this character returning to the book and the mythos, and I look forward to seeing Nubia returning to prominence. She has so much possibility and her story so much potential! I also LOVE that the book will be written and illustrated by FOUR black individuals!!!!! (Steph Williams, Vita Ayala, ALitha Martinez, and Mark Morales). Hell to the motherbleeping yeah!
