No, it's not, because Tully didn't beat Luchasaurus in a straight match. He got the pin after Lucha got beaten down in a tag match with younger guys.

And Sting got the win in his tag match because the babyface who is being built up took out the heel being built up in a big, over the top spot that would have been ruined if either of them got up to attempt a pin fall. That spot is the thing about the match that people remember, not Sting beating Ricky

Then what was the point of Tully being the one to get the pin? With him and FTR being in MJF's new stable and feuding with the Inner Circle I highly doubt Jungle Express will get their win back. Why not just have Cash or Dax get the pin? Plus the fact that the 67 year old hadn't wrestled in decades Tully was able to keep up with them isn't a good look.

Darby Coffin Dropping Brian Cage and weakly draping his arm over him was something they could've done but they obviously thought Sting should be the one to get the pin in his 1st match with the company.

sorry beastie, i'm going to have to just take your word for it. there's just so much **** out there just trying to keep current, besides i think after that performance i'll get to see plenty more of her going forward.

Also, I agree about the MJF stuff. Glad it is not the Horsemen but Pinnacle screams lame Johnny Ace era WWE stable to me. It will be ripe for mocking by faces ... But maybe that was the goal?
the whole crew seems kind of generic to me. i think i shall call them the Pinochle. not that it's especially clever, i've always just thought "pinochle" sounded funny and also how i'd imagine pentagon pronouncing "pinnacle". i also thought it was kind of funny when jr referred to the pinochle as a "very diverse" group of men.

hey man i was kind of wrong about sammy, didn't see the whole inner circle turning. i got WERKT.

As an aside, I don't get the whole AEW = TNA comparison that has shown up here lately.

AEW has yet to have a PPV or even the A or B show use the old talent to run over the young guns for the entire show. Maybe a segment or match but never a whole show. And it has always ended with the young lion being put over.

Vince does that more than AEW but comparing anyone to pre-2017 TNA is laughable at best. There is plenty to criticize about AEW. This AEW = old TNA just doesn't hold water as an argument. It comes off as "all I know is WWE" to me.

That is my offensive 2 cents.
it's a reach man, a loooooooong reach but when you want something bad enough you just will that **** into xistence.

idk if there was anything brilliant about her time as kobra moon. i'm more inclined to believe she's just improved a lot over the years.

if a man is KOed, what difference does it make who lays atop him for 3??

there are answers to these questions that make sense, but i don't think you're capable of accepting that other people see things differently than you unless they are bias.

anybody checking NJPW strong?? i'm looking forward to bateman vs brody king, i liked violence unlimited as a tag team. i think bateman might be a little underrated.

You're the only person in this entire thread who comes off as cartoonishly biased towards AEW, so no, I won't take any explanation as biased if literally anyone but you gives it. And how funny you always happen to see things differently if they paint AEW in a positive light. You never stop and think things like "hmmm maybe Team Tazz shouldn't run away from an old guy with a bad neck so much." None of those logical thoughts for you, you just go straight into unpaid shill mode by deflecting or bringing up how "but but Darby's getting the rub from basking in Sting's presence!"

If WWE had let's say, the Hurt Business beat the **** out of Drew McIntyre and drag Goldb- oops sorry Oldberg (lol so funny and clever) and dragged Oldberg's unconscious body on top of him everyone would bitch that Drew lost to an "old man." Btw don't say anything about the Stinger being 7 years older than Bill. Being old isn't bad when you work for Tony Khan.

if you say so, but that's why i didn't bother to answer.

that scenario with the hurt business wouldn't bother me at all. i love the hurt biz, and a fan of goldberg, and drew. regardless of who might bitch nothing there makes anybody look bad to me. i'd say it sucked if goldberg beat up the hurt business or defeated drew for the world title.

are you under the impression that i refer to goldberg as "oldberg" because if so you may have me confused with somebody else.

you're hung up on tony khan in a bad way, you should really just let that **** go. it's just going to eat away at you.

And you've further cemented your clear bias, since I'm one of the few people here who's consistently critical of Tony Khan and AEW you think I'm hung up on him or hate him or some other such nonsense. But most talk about Vince McMahon and WWE here is largely negative, funny how you never call out the countless posters here who routinely **** on Vince and WWE as "hung up" on Vince. It's almost like you think anybody who doesn't think the sun shines out of Tony Khan's ass must be some bitter hater. People who talk about Vince/WWE the way I talk about Tony/AEW otoh are fine upstanding people with valid reasons for their gripes.

This whole thread is meet more pro AEW than WWE and you show zero issue with the avalanche of complaints against WWE even though a lot of it could be seen as unwarranted.

Those things don't matter in the bigger picture. Luchasaurus isn't going to be hurt getting pinned by Tully when FTR needed to help to make that happen. You are completely ignoring the fact he was protected in that loss. I didn't watch the Sting match so I don't know what happened there.

Those guys are onscreen performers because they are functioning as managers. The guys they are attached to can't work a mic. Better to have Jake speak for Archer than him doing it himself. As I said before, Arn is a prop. He doesn't do anything for Cody other than having someone escort him to the ring. Since Brandy can't do it he got himself another valet.

The old guy with bad neck always has a baseball bat on deck. I'll be weary of someone with a weapon no matter how old he is. Sting got power bombed in the go home show so he got his eventually.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree there, I don't think Lance needs someone to talk for him. As a big monster his mic skills are more than good enough to convey his short and to the point messages. FTR don't need Tully to talk for them at all, Dax is pretty good on the mic imo and now that they're in a stable with MJF Tully talking for them is even less necessary.

I get it, if you have legendary all time great talkers like Jake, Arn and Tully you'd be foolish not to use them, especially when you're a new promotion and need all the star power you can get. I just think they're using them more for their name recognition than to soley help out the young talent.

And yeah Sting has a bat but he was outnumbered 5-1, and it's not like Team Tazz couldn't have evened the playing field by quickly getting a chair or having 1 or all members get a bat of their own. I don't see why they had to book it so the team looked scared of him, it's good Cage eventually powerbombed him but for awhile they ran scared from him despite the numbers advantage they had.

they had a cinematic match i didn't much care for. in it neither sting nor darby could handle cage 1 on 1. sting had to use the bat and darby had to sacrifice himself to take cage out of the match, then sting beat ricky starks with a SDD. made sense to me as cage turned face and it would be stupid to have sting lose to starks at this point. darby's already beat starks so why not let sting get the win, i'm sure sting fans were happy to see him get a win.

i used to wonder why the entire NWO would run away from sting with his bat back in the 90's, then i figured that it was fukn wrestling and that was going to be stings thing. also how many times have we seen a single wrestler clear an entire ring with just a chair. i guess nobody wants to be the guy to get hit with a bat or chair. that said after seeing sting beat up 10+ guys with a bat multiple times over the years it's understandable for heels to be hesitant and their manager to tell them to back off, often hobbs or cage would want to go after him.

Older established wrestlers giving the younger guys the rub is as old as the business itself, it is a play on the leave on your back mentality of wrestling, you can't leave a territory as the champ. AEW's problem is they are a new company so they don't have any old champs to hand the belt off to a new one. I remember when NJPW first got widespread US distribution. I didn't know the wrestlers but I immediately recognized the Flair handing off to Sting thing going on between Tanahashi to Okada. So to me the "legends" are there to give authenticity or more aptly put nostalgia fans engaged. The Pinnacle without Tully is just another division trying to apt the Horsemen faction thing, what separates Evolution and Fourtune from the dozens of Horsemen knockoffs was they had Flair. What makes Pinnacle more than a Horsemen homage/knockoff is Tully. Sort of like the difference between an artist just stealing a cover's look and an artist crediting the one who did it before him. Legendary wrestlers get old school fans attention, fans of my age group probably don't get Darby but having him with Sting will get him more attention, what he does with it...who knows. I don't think the murderhawk would be as over as he is now without Jake because without Jake it would require better booking which AEW doesn't have right now. Sometimes it hurts though trying to make Brian Cage into new school Taz obviously isn't helping.

While on that long diatribe last post something came to mind Darby Allen reminds me more of ECW Raven in mentality than Sting. In fact Darby and Orange Cassidy are the bastard children of Raven. Darby for his demeanor (dark and dystopian) and Orange for that too lazy to be bothered next generation mindset. There is nothing new under the sun especially in pro wrestling.

This "But if WWE did it!"/"But if AEW did it!" nonsense (not just here, but in the entire wrestling fandom) is garbage and needs to go. It's as if people can't grasp the fact that you can actually watch and enjoy both shows. The whole "war" concept is dumb and childish. Hell, I started watching wrestling as a teenager in '98 at the height of the "Monday Night Wars" and even back then I realized "Hey, I can watch one live, record the other, and then watch it after!" like a normal, functioning human.

All it does is just cause arguments online and, frankly, there's already enough stuff causing that without wrestling involved.

    Exactly this.

I watched both AEW and WWE. I have no attachment to any of them and I praise and/or condemn them whey they do bullshit.
