I enjoyed Full Gear up until the Saraya match. That match lasted too long and the wrong person won. At this point is where the crowd fatigue started to kick in. At that point the crowd was mostly quiet. We popped for Joe, Hayter's title win, and the acclaimed but I was saving what I still had for MJF. Honestly AEW needs to cut matches from these shows. The pacing was awful

Tony Khan brought up how "he booked" the whole Colt Cabana deal on TV weeks ago it appears. That he was doing it as part of the Jericho ROH storyline. The only part that made people do a WTF was him saying this about Cabana....

"He's won both his matches and I thought he'd be a very logical challenger for Chris. He's a compelling baby face, someone the crowd gets behind, and a really good wrestler, and I thought it would be a really good match, and I thought it was a really good match."

Of course a lot are asking ...WHAT ? The guy has barely showed up on TV the last year or 2 and was a background guy in Dark Order a long while. How is he a compelling face to watch for fans ? (and given it cost them 140,000+ viewers that quarter then NO...he was not that compelling for people to watch)

Back in the old , old days PPV's for most part was 7-8 matches. Shows ran from 8pm to 11pm. I never imagined PPV's now going to midnight now. Or airing on Friday's or Saturday's.

So I don't think it was a leak. Just how telegraphed it was on TV we saw weeks ago in that promo Regal and Max cut.
    Ah, ok. Thanks.

It's funny how different people interpret/figure things out. I saw all the Regal/MJF interactions and thought it was just building up MJF as a good guy face. Hah, I was fooled!

Immortal Weapon, that's awesome that you attended the show. I went to Grand Slam in Queens back in September. It was such an amazing & fun night.

But it was LOOOONG. Too long, IMO. So I completely understand & experienced the crowd getting fatigued.

It's going to be Ospreay/Omega at Wrestle Kingdom.

Going to be weird seeing Omega in an NJPW ring again.

The crowd wants MJF and they are cheering his heel role. Its more that like Austin and Rock , this is the character fans want MJF as. In Austin and Rock's case the fans turned them both face and the WWF never really made them change like MJF nearly did. It was more...organic. They suddenly either turned those they faced (Bret Hart in Austin's case) or just had them go against the heels in a promo (Rock on Mr. McMahon's group). With MJF he wasn't there...yet.

The audience is turning him and he'll still be the same MJF. Its just he's an anti-hero type and well...maybe Khan should turn heel and try to do a McMahon deal and get the belt off him as we go through 2023. That Khan slowly morphs into a heel there. (it would be a nice change)

    Wrong Person won?

In what world was Saraya losing ever even a possibility. She's the biggest female wrestler ever signed by AEW, and she has the "wrestler comes back from an injury thought to be career ending" momentum

This show had a 10 match card (13 counting the pre-show) and each match ran for at least 10 minutes. Some matches didn't need that kind of time or more. As someone to has to be in at work in the early morning I'm glad PPVs are shifting to Friday and Saturday. Much more convenient.

I thought about attending Grand Slam as it was two days after my birthday but the journey back home would have been a pain in the ass. This was the first PPV I attended and I had a great time. Tony seriously needs to work on his show pacing. Not so bad when watching at home but its something else when being there live.

I personally didn't get invested in the story. Saraya spend the majority of the feud making the company's biggest homegrown female talent look insignificant, and making it seem like she was owed something. She came off as a heel to me. I was way more sympathetic to Britt.

Oh its good to see that really. I never really knew why PPV's had that Sunday night deal for years. Its one of those things that it seems PPV providers made companies keep for years. It also amazes me that they will let PPV's now run 4-5 hours. Because back then it was 3 hours and that was it. The WWF once pushed 4 hours for a Wrestlemania and that then was a big deal to see.

Part of me feels for Britt , but then I remembered how she blasted Punk weeks ago. And this was after Punk during his All Out media scrum spoke great on Adam Cole. Punk seemed high on Cole and the words said seemed to hint he would work with him down the line. This is Baker's boyfriend right , so she jumped on the whole "Punk's evil in locker room" deal. Which shows me how a lot of these folks are just going with the flow.

(I did laugh at Punk's joke mocking those folks on MMA show..."You guys don't want me in that locker room..."

EDIT TO ADD : Punk also complimented her in promos if we remember saying how she was better than MJF. So yeah he not only liked Cole he also seemed to compliment her as well.
