He has to be the "man of yesterday" for the sake of making work his replacement.

Clark should never be replaced. The “man of yesterday” should never be a thing. If Bruce-Bat can maintain relevance and keep going up in popularity, Superman should be ahead of him. It’s a shame Batman has a national day but Superman, the Father of the Superhero genre is being treated like the old geezer dad the modern audience doesn’t care for.

They get the SM/WW archetype so well, this is what resonate with them more than the actual characters as written by DC.

This is what doesnÂ’t make sense. But DC gets the archetype when itÂ’s convenient or try to push it on other characters/dynamics that makes it so flat.

To follow Zack Snyder's lead and chase Miles Morales' popularity, no? lol

And where has that led? 🤔

I agree that stories outside of "main canon" are up for different interpretations, long as they don't stray too far.

ThatÂ’s the joy of it. Main canon is too restrictive but outside stories has actually been the creative stories that make some kin of impact

More like John Byrne decided to double on him being an "American human" because of his personal belief on being an immigrant. If Byrne wanted a Superman like that, he should've created his own instead stripping the character of what made him special.

ThatÂ’s his own personal view that has had a long term negative effect on Superman. What made Superman special is what made the character as a whole and why he resonated with so many beyond the limited American norm.

I hold the personal belief that DC Comics has always wanted it since 1961, but Superman and Lois Lane can't be broken up. George Perez opened the door when he made Steve Trevor an older man. But, DC went with Superman and Lois Lane. Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor are a thing again, don't know in current continuity. So, that made things harder. In the end, these pairing can't be broken up. So, why not let writers do their own continuity like Miller's TDK and White Knight? There's room for it.

EhÂ…itÂ’s more complicated than that. You have traditional couples that quite honestly are just default but that doesnÂ’t make them interesting. Current continuity is screwed and in a mid to alarming place sales wise so that doesnÂ’t mean much either.

Dc has a multiverse to utilize for all characters not just Batman.

If we're talking real revisionism, the New52 was way more successful than DC Comics and the anti-New52 fans give it credit for.

Wow! Alexandra is beautiful! And paragon is a great unique design. I love how SMWW kids from fans have such a uniqueness to them.

A-Ko really deserves to be remastered/updated like sailor moon, hunter x hunter or Dororo has.

Sadly, DC gave up on modernize the character. But WB on the other hand... well, Coates/Abrams' SM is not going to be Donner/Byrne take for sure.

Looking at the increasing amount of out-of-continuity books that DC is producing lately, it makes me think they'll end up moving away from the "main canon" sooner or later. 🤔

The "worst" aspect of Byrne's take isn't the change itself but how it's treated as dogmatic decades later and retroactively made how SM has always been, and you be damned if you think otherwise.
