There’s a big different between complaints online and yet a concept proves to be a success despite the so called outrage like how it was with SMWW. But doesn’t add up that what fans supposedly love is back in a sense yet sales are stagnant or way lower than it suppose to be.
Still pushing something that’s obviously not working plus complaints and low sells is backwards thinking.



Marvel is just doing spectacular things with concepts and their characters/dynamics actually respecting and following source material. Not watering down or completely twisting source material or picking things that just shouldn’t even be adapted (DOS, DKR and partially injustice) as DC has done. That’s the downfall.

Here’s the thing, yes Superman and Wonder Woman are icons. But as characters, they have so much value to tell compelling complexed stories that can resonate with today. The Gatekeeping of these characters, especially Superman is why they are stagnant. They are still struggling with relatability. They are suppose to inspire to move forward, stand out, go beyond the norm and screw limitations… yet especially Superman is stuck with being the opposite as the keeper of the outdated status quo. The problematic ideals of what’s accepted as the norm or even this asinine xenophobic idea of what humanity is and what determines them having humanity.

It would’ve been so interesting to see Clark dealing with the Gods more. It’s the ordinary relationship stuff but on an extraordinary level. That’s how it should be for Clark and Diana being larger than life instead of being brought down just for others comfort.

You know, it would've been great if it had just brought their two worlds together. But, it was turned into a Superman crossover book. It makes me question why they went so far. I guess after decades DC figured it'd sell good enough? Imagine a story with them going up against Villainy Inc. and Superman Revenge Squad.

Btw, about what you wrote... I posted some letters from the 70s/80s by WW fans requesting to pair SM/WW or speculating there was something more going on between them (perhaps there were already this type of requests earlier in the 60s and I missed them, idk). Also, there used to be many older fans in this forum that started shipping SM/WW during the 70s.

Afaik, since SM/WW appeared in the same pages, writers and readers speculated about the potential pair, and said writers teased it more and more with each decade. Even Marston had them sort of dancing and calling the match "appropriate". lol.

Also, I wouldn't put too much faith in Marston, the guy actually didn't like Superman. I think he was more interested in comics a medium to teach children than the stories.

His WW was still a SM's female counterpart. Originally, he even wanted to call her Suprema.

Adaptation still doesn’t mean it’s good. It’s all about reception and as we see clearly DC’s reception has been mid.

Marvel made kind of work even the stuff that shouldn't be adapted like Civil War and OMD. lol. It's all about the execution.

Marvel takes their time and follow source material not cherry pick, copy and paste in such a shallow way.

This is what Charles Soule was building. Molding their worlds together. He said he had plans even for a Wonder Woman centric arc and Donna Troy intro but of course all that building was scrapped for pointless nonsense.
