Those designs are really fun. I'd love to have seen that story.
Doesn't look like much of an elseworld?if i had my way superman's origin would start in an old run down circus or an amusement park..(a bit of the killing joke but the joker and the strongman share the origin). Also the boots are on point.just need to be in red.Overall, this is my superman. The scifi working class action hero..I would have kept the first sheild..And action comics#1 would be the starting point...

Great interview with Donner from 2019 (reposted today in memoriam) about his time making the movie. The info on Terrance Stamp has me rolling, it’s so perfectly 70s.

Yeah, great read. Won't be able to look at Stamp the same again, ha. Loved the story about Margot Kidder nailing the part right when entering the room.
I keep wondering what the movie would have looked like had Brando had his way in how he wanted to play his part... Kind of reminds me of Abe Simpson as the Love-Matic Grandpa

“Look, you can’t put the Superman #77s with the #200s. They haven’t even discovered Red Kryptonite yet. And you can’t put the #98s with the #300s, Lori Lemaris hasn’t even been introduced.” — Sam

I have no arguments...

"Nobody is more dangerous than he who imagines himself pure in heart; for his purity, by definition, is unassailable." James Baldwin
i think the company, writers, the creatives..etc did that for me.Alon with this incepid idea that i absolutely must look at superman through the lenses nostalgia, reverance, culture which birthed the character and what not. Ultimately the character just provides a sappy feel good feelings.. That's not really the kinda characters i like.I still like goldenage guy.but, overwhelmingly superman as whole isn't for.The character just lacks the fire and energy for me.Most of the time the character makes my eyes roll with the nonsense. i am just never going to get into a savior, that too someone who is programmed to be one..They say superman is inspirational..but,i don't get the feeling..
