So is the Bendis run worth the read?

Depends. He consistently had a great voice for Clark and was willing to play with some big ideas and developments for the mythos, but his execution was lacking a lot of the time (and even some of the concepts he played with were badly thought out in-and-of themselves).

I'd say his Superman run is worth checking out, the best part of it being the initial Man of Steel mini, the identity reveal and the two issues where he's in therapy with the new Doctor Fate. His Action Comics run was pretty terrible, though, so I wouldn't recommend it unless you find yourself falling in love with his take on Lois.

Did you read and love Rebirth? If that was your ideal Superman I’d skip Bendis, doubt you’d like it. If you enjoyed Rebirth but were open to a new direction, which is where I was by the end, then I’d give Bendis a try, ditto for if you hated Rebirth. As Quinlan said, Bendis biggest advantage over Rebirth is that for me, he has by far the best handle on Clark’s voice: Slightly neurotic, prone to overanalysis and second guessing himself internally, but able to put all of that aside at a moments notice when he’s needed and act. These are two of my favorite pages he wrote:

Bendis is the worst Superman writer of all time

And yes...that includes zack Snyder, Terrio, and Goyer

In 2007/2008, I was lead designer on a Superman game that was never released - because the economy crashed hard. It killed our publisher, our studio (Factor 5), and the game.

I have multiple unreleased games through my career, but THIS is the only one I mourn to this day...
This thread is pure pain. We were so goddamn close!

I don’t know what was so hard about making a Superman game outside of the map limits

You have the klan of the fiery cross, give them an army of atom men

Ditto to metallos, eradicators, phantoms, and doomsdays

Or just create original henchmen that are more than capable of hurting Superman

If you are a fan of Reis, then that's a big yes... art was AWESOME in the Superman book. Conversely, AC pretty sub-par with JRJR...

I found the Japanese version of the intro to the New Adventures of Superman Filmation cartoon, not only does it use a different theme but around 00:53 has different animation for the intro.

No matter how many reboots, new origins, reinterpretations or suit redesigns. In the end, he will always be SUPERMAN
