I really dig everything else though. The antagonists were interesting, the fight was a nice change from the usual stuff, the widows looked absolutely gorgeous and Yelena being fed up with Tasha's constant natsplaining was hilarious.

Same! The dialogue in general was consistently hitting the msrk for me even by Thompson's very high standards.

And it's just nice that Nat has a support cast she can bounce off of.

I agree with what everyone else has said about the newest issue. Besides that one part that put me off 'cause man I really just want that plot point to go away, I really enjoyed this issue! I do think we may be building up to a blow out between Natasha and Yelena, though. Presuming Yelena has more going on inn her life that this, she basically put everything on hold to be there for Natasha, to be her partner and make sure she's not dealing with everything alone. I imagine she's gonna feel very hurt and betrayed when she eventually finds out Natasha's "family" isn't dead like she was made to believe. Feels like we're heading in that direction.

Honestly I would not be surprised if neither Yelena nor Clint would end up being all that surprised.
I'm basing that off the idea that in a way this is similar to Natasha secretly recruiting the buckman in tales of suspense and revealing it to Clint in Freefall.
I could see that being a fool me once/fool me twice kind of deal given that Bucky's absence during the fight must have raised some suspicion.
And if Clint can see through it, it would be weird if master spy Yelena didn't.
And yeah sure these stories were written by different writers but Thompson and Rosenberg don't exactly make it a secret that they consult each other at times.

I mean, realistically, Yelena shouldn't be all that surprised that Natasha keeps a few things to herself considering their lifelong training and former professions. I mean, I think I have a pretty decent support system, but as much as they know, there are at least a couple of things I've kept them in the dark about because some things should just belong to you.
